Abstract:
In a GSM mobile wireless telecommunications system (20), a method for conveying data from terminal equipment (46) to a network (48) via a CDMA air interface, including receiving the data as input from the terminal equipment (46) and transmitting the data at a CDMA data transfer rate over the CDMA air interface. The data are transferred to the network (48) over a GSM A-interface using a GSM circuit switched data protocol.
Abstract:
A method for conveying packet data from a CDMA mobile station to a GSM network, including communicating with a GSM service node to establish a data link from the mobile station to the network via a radio communications base station. The packet data are conveyed between the mobile station and the base station over a CDMA air interface and are then transferred over the link between the base station and the network.

A method for conveying packet data from a CDMA mobile station (40) to a GSM network (22), including communicating with a GSM service node to establish a data link from the mobile station (40) to th e network (22) via a radio communications base station (32). The packet data are conveyed between the mobile station (40) and the base station (32) over a CDMA air interface and are then transferred over the link between the base station (32) and the network (22).

Abstract:
In a mobile wireless telecommunications system, a base station subsystem (20 ) includes at least one base station transceiver (32), which communicates over an air interface with a plurality of mobile stations (22, 24) operating in accordance with a plurality of different protocol standards. The mobile stations include at least one first mobile (22) station operating in accordance with a first protocol standard (IS-95) and at least one second mobile station (24) operating in accordance with a second protocol standard (GSM). The base station subsystem (20) includes a paging/access manager (36) , which for each call between the base station subsystem (20) and one of the mobile stations (22, 24) routes the call via a network (26, 28, 30) responsi ve to the protocol.
