Abstract: Color images with high fixation comparable to that of silver salt photographic images are formed on printing papers, using aqueous ink compositions by ink jet recording. Color images thus formed have high saturation and high resolution. An intercalated compound capable of fixing water-soluble dyes to a printing paper due to the intercalation based on ion-exchanging between them is incorporated into the dye-receiving layer (2) of the paper, on which color images are formed by ink jet recording using an aqueous ink composition containing a water-soluble dye. The content of the intercalated compound in the layer (2) is from 10 to 90 % by weight. As the intercalated compound, montmorillonoids are preferred when water-soluble cationic dyes are used while hydrotalcite-group minerals are preferred when water-soluble anionic dyes are used.

Abstract: A printing apparatus in which metered amounts of an ink and a diluting solution are mixed and the resulting mixed liquid is ejected to a recording medium for printing. Specifically, the ink and the dilution liquid at least containing a water-soluble organic solvent are mixed together in respective metered amounts and the resulting liquid mixture is ejected to the recording medium. The water-soluble organic solvent desirably contains the aliphatic monohydric alcohol, a polyhydric alcohol or its derivatives. The dilution liquid may contain a non-water-soluble organic solvent or a dispersion medium composed of water and a non-water-soluble resin. An OH-group containing resin and a cross-linking agent are desirably contained in the non-water-soluble resin. Ink fixing properties for a picture recorded by discharging the liquid mixture of the ink and the dilution liquid may be improved, while suppression of bleeding in the picture and improved discharging stability are also achieved.

Abstract: The photographic paper (210) is intended for use with a printer with which a vaporisable dye from the latter is absorbed on a receptor layer (211) provided as an upper layer of a photographic paper base. A light absorbing layer (212) formed by a light absorbing agent is provided between the photographic paper base and the receptor layer. The light absorbing can be whitened in colour hue by thermal defraction either of the light absorbing agent itself by a light radiating element of the associated printer, or of a capsule enclosing a whitening agent mixed with the light absorbing layer.

Abstract: A method for forming images by a thermal transfer process. The method comprises the steps of providing a printing sheet having an image-receiving layer on one side thereof, providing an ink ribbon having a dye layer comprising a hydrophilic cationic dye, contacting the ink ribbon with the image-receiving layer, and applying a thermal energy to the ink ribbon in an imagewise pattern to thermally transfer the dye from the ink ribbon to the image-receiving layer. The image-receiving layer comprises at least a layer compound which has ion exchangeability with the cationic dye, so that the dye image is fixed through the ion exchange. Since the dye is bonded to the layer compound through ion exchange, the dye is fixed comparable to that of silver salt photography. A thermal transfer system using the ink ribbon and the printing sheet is also described.

Abstract: A novel display material is disclosed, which comprises a material layer containing a dye and a supporting electrolyte. The material layer is capable of solid-liquid transformation. The coloration and discoloration of the layer are effected by oxidation reduction reaction of the dye by applying current to the material layer in liquefied state. The display material may be used as electrochromic display and thermosensitive recording paper.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a display composition which com- prises a dye and a clay mineral in which quaternary ammo- nium ions are bound between layers through ion exchange, said display composition undergoing reversible color development and color, fading through the oxidation and reduction of said dye, the oxidation causing said dye to form a color and to be bound between the layers of said clay mineral through ion exchange with said quaternary ammonium ions, the reduction causing the dye to discolor and to be desorbed out of the interlaminar space of the clay mineral and also causing the quaternary ammonium ions to be bound again between the layers through ion exchange. Disclosed also herein are a coloring pigment and recording material which employ the display composition.

Abstract: PCT No. PCT/JP83/00107 Sec. 371 Date Nov. 29, 1983 Sec. 102(e) Date Nov. 29, 1983 PCT Filed Apr. 7, 1983 PCT Pub. No. WO83/03687 PCT Pub. Date Oct. 27, 1983.A photosensitive imaging material utilizing changes in adhesive properties due to light, wherein an alloxazin derivative represented by the general formula: [wherein R's may be the same or different from each other and each represents an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or a phenylalkyl group represented by the formula: (wherein n is an integer of 1 or more)] is used as a photopolymerization initiator, thereby enhancing the photographic speed and photographic sensitivity of the photosensitive material. Further, in order that the photosensitive material can possess image halftone reproducibility per se, the photosensitive material may be made into a composite material in which a photosensitive layer additionally containing a tertiary amine as a sensitizer is laminated on a hardened layer formed by hardening a photosensitive composition. The photosensitive imaging material of this invention thus constructed can be employed as a copying material for recording or reproducing projected images from a cathode ray tube or a fiber tube.
