Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a damper wire tension adjusting method capable of suppressing collective vibration (surface vibration) of an aperture grille(AG) of a Trinitron tube and a damper wire tension adjusting mechanism in the case of drawing out a damper wire from a reel. CONSTITUTION:A method is for adjusting tension of a vibro-isolating damper wire 18 of a color selecting mask 7 constituted by separating many longitudinally long tapes 11 of a color cathode-ray tube. By assuming T (g) for tension of the damper wire 18, R (m) for radius of curvature in a direction Z of frame 5 of the color selecting mask 7, P (mm) for tape pitch of the color selecting mask 7 and F (g) for force of retaining the tape 11 by the damper wire 18, when a relation where F=PXT/R is realized, the tension T of the damper wire 18 is set so as to obtain F=2.0 to 6.0X10 (g).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the twist of an extreme end tape section around the extension direction of an extreme end slit, even when a mask is laid on a frame under high tension. CONSTITUTION:Regarding the extreme tape section 17a of a mask 12, the side end 17b thereof opposite to an extreme end slit 16a has a curved form, so that the breadth of the section 17a becomes not uniform but larger at a center than at both ends in the extension direction of the slit 16a. As a result, the section 17a in the extension direction of the slit 16a becomes less twisted, and the breadth of the slit 16a is not reduced, thereby ensuring proper color screening.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent a torsion of the color selecting mechanism of a cathode-ray tube, and to suppress the slippage of the electron beams. CONSTITUTION:A metallic sheet 6 having a vertical stripe form apertures 6a is supported by frame members 7a and 7b under an adequate tension. A supporting member 8 extending in the longitudinal direction of the frame member 7a is fixed on the frame member 7a welded to the metallic sheet 6, while a supporting member 9 extending in the direction vertical to the surface formed of the frame members 7a and 7b (Z-axial direction) is fixed to the frame member 7b welded to the frame member 7a. The supporting member 9 is fixed at about the center of the frame member 7b.
