    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a CRT in which brightness is enhanced without changing a conventional electron gun, a luminescent body and the like. CONSTITUTION: This cathode-ray tube comprises both or either one of a panel glass 3 and a safety glass 1 which are used in the front surface of a color cathode-ray tube, and glass which has a characteristic that a spectral transmission factor with respect to an electromagnetic wave in the vicinity of wavelength of 580-700nm is relatively higher than a spectral transmission factor with respect to an electromagnetic wave in the vicinity of wavelength of 430nm and a spectral transmission factor with respect to an electromagnetic wave in the vicinity of wavelength of 530nm is used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To narrow the invalid screen luminescent region of a color cathode-ray tube by making the cross section shape of an electron beam shield serrate and setting the free end of the electron beam shield closely to a color selecting mechanism part. CONSTITUTION:An electron beam shield 28 is installed by welding or the like through a connection part 28b of a phosphor screen side of a frame B member. In the condition of the installation, the free end of the shield 28 is set closely to a color selecting mechanism 14. The long side serrate shield part especially the surface of the free end of the shield part 28a, is preferably set at an angle in which direction the electron beam B2 hits almost perpendicularly, wherein the electron beam comes into the outermost part of the phosphor screen. In that case, since the free end of the shield part 28a in set closely to the phosphor screen, an invalid screen luminescent region can be narrowed. The electron beam B3 is not shielded by the shield 28 and is one to pass the nearest position of the shield and together with the beam B2, the electron beam B3 forms the invalid screen luminescent region. The electron beam B4 hits against the shield part 28a and is reflected at acute angle prevents conventional IBS reflection.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the twist of an extreme end tape section around the extension direction of an extreme end slit, even when a mask is laid on a frame under high tension. CONSTITUTION:Regarding the extreme tape section 17a of a mask 12, the side end 17b thereof opposite to an extreme end slit 16a has a curved form, so that the breadth of the section 17a becomes not uniform but larger at a center than at both ends in the extension direction of the slit 16a. As a result, the section 17a in the extension direction of the slit 16a becomes less twisted, and the breadth of the slit 16a is not reduced, thereby ensuring proper color screening.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a landing position of an electron beam by deformation of a pair of support members while thermal energy thermally expands a thin electrode plate for selecting color, by forming a pair of support members for expanding the thin electrode plate for selecting color in a bimetal structure. SOLUTION: A thin electrode plate 9 for selecting color in which electron beam passing holes 10 are arranged between many grid element bodies 11 is extended on a frame 4 to construct a color selecting mechanism 1. The frame 4 comprises support members 7c, 7d in a bimetal structure with facing L-shaped cross section and elasticity applying members 8a, 8b that are folded in the U shape and bridged between the support members. In the bimetal structure, low-expansion-coefficient material is affixed to the inside of the support members 7c, 7d with L-shaped cross section, and high-expansion-coefficient material is affixed to the outside. Thus, while thermal energy expands the support members 7c, 7d, expansion of the outside is large, and the members bend inward and longitudinally. This bending expands the grid element bodies 11 outward, corrects displacement of the color selecting mechanism 1 in the tube axis direction, and prevents deviation of the electron beam passion holes 10 from deviating a landing position.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a higher shielding effect in a corner part which is affected more by an external magnetic field by setting the bottom part of the corner part of an internal magnetic shield of a cathode-ray tube near the electron beam track. CONSTITUTION:Regarding an internal magnetic shield 18, a corner shielding part 13a is formed in a corner part of a CRT, wherein the part 13a is formed by bending an installation bottom part 13 which is conventionally used for welding with a frame B part 5b of a color selecting system 7 toward the inside, that is, toward the electron beam track 10 side. Welding with the part 5b is carried out in the middle part where the effect of an external magnetic field is slight. A high shielding effect as compared with that of a conventional shield against the external magnetic field such as terrestrial magnetism is obtained by setting the bottom part 13 near the track 10 side in all four corners of the CRT panel 2.
