Abstract: A recording apparatus for an optical recording medium (1) having a pregroove and address data includes a recording head apparatus (4-7) and a controller (11). The recording head apparatus (4-7) has an optical head device (4) and records data on the optical recording medium (1) along the pregroove. The optical head device (4) radiates a light beam having an intensity which is enough to record the data on the optical recording medium (1). The optical head device (4) includes a detector. The controller (11) controls the recording head apparatus and receives an output signal supplied from the detector. The optical head device (4) is controlled to move a recording start point from the previous recording start point by a predetermined value when the controller (11) detects the occurrence of a recording error according to the output signal from the detector and restarted to record the data from the moved recording start point on the optical recording medium (1).

SOLUTION: This optical disk device is equipped with an optical head 3 for emitting a laser beam to an optical disk 2 rotatably driven by a spindle motor 1, a circuit 6 for performing the tracking control of this optical head 3, an abnormality detecting means 30 which is provided with a circuit 32 for detecting the generation of track-jumping based on a tracking error signal and with a circuit 33 for detecting discontinuity of recording data, a control circuit 7 for lowering the output of the optical head 3 when an abnormality of recording operation is detected by the means 30, and a memory 14 in which data writing is performed even in the detection of an abnormality of recording operation, and at the time of detection of an abnormality in recording operation by the detecting means 30 during the data recording, the device lowers the output of the optical head 3, returning to the starting end of the cluster where an abnormality is detected in the recording data, resuming the recording operation, and recording the data stored in the memory 14.

With this constitution, the starting point of the music can be accessed at the time of reproduction afterwards.
