Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyester product excellent in resilient elasticity, shape retainability and shape stability, and a process for producing the same. The invention provides a polyester product with high resilient elasticity, shape retainability, and shape stability, which is produced by heat-treating a product comprising polyester fibers or a film prepared by taking up a molten polyester at a take-up speed of 2000 m/min to 4000 m/min, in wet heat and/or dry heat at not lower than 120 DEG C with the product maintained in a loose or constrained condition without being drawn. The product is very suitable, for example, as a collar interlining cloth of a shirt, a base fabric of a shirt, or a fabric of a lady's dress, etc.

Abstract: A fabric having a specific structure, its prodn. and various articles formed by the fabric such as clothes. More definitely, the fabric of the present invention is characterised in that a large number of narrow sheet plates (S1-S7) form a superposition structure, and are linked with one another to form the fabric while the superposed portions of these narrow sheet plates (S1-S7) are open in the transverse directions of these plates (S1-S7). The prodn. of the fabric characterised in that the narrow sheet plates (S1-S7) are sequentially superposed while their positions are deviated from one another to form a superposed structure, and the adjacent narrow sheet plates (S1-S7) are linked with one another while keeping this state. When used for clothes, for example, the fabric of the present invention prevents the solar rays and rain from striking directly the skin of people wearing the clothes, has extremely high air permeation performance and moreover, has rich fashion property. The fabric can constitute clothes having those functions which have not been accomplished conventionally. This fabric can be applied to various fields besides the clothes, such as beddings, sand prevention sheets, agricultural or horticultural greenhouses, packaging cases for footgears and fresh foodstuffs, beach parasols, tents, filter materials, chair upholstering materials, screens and curtains, and the like, and can provide novel articles in each field. @(59pp Dwg.No.0/13).

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for producing nonwoven fabrics. It has been impossible to obtain broad uniform nonwoven fabrics, unless a large number of spindles ejecting fibers are installed in the widthwise direction of the fabric. In view of this, the present invention relates to a novel method and apparatus for producing nonwoven fabrics capable of increasing the width of the fabric even when a small number of spindles are employed. The method of producing nonwoven fabrics according to the present invention comprises the steps of ejecting a group of fibers entrained with a high-speed fluid through a nozzle rotating around the axis of a substantially stationary cylindrical support, laminating the ejected fibers in the form of a web on the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical support, resiliently compressing the heated web via a roller revolving on the inner peripheral surface of the cylindrical support around the axis of revolution corresponding to that of rotation of the nozzle, and then taking back the web from the cylindrical support while letting the web slip thereon. The apparatus according to the present invention is used to embody the above-described method.

Abstract: An improved chenille woven or knitted fabric utilizing at least a chenille yarn composed of synthetic fibers, wherein risen fibers forming a rising portion of the chenille yarn are composed of ultra-fine fibers having a fineness smaller than 0.9 denier and the rising angle of the risen fibers to the longitudinal axis of the chenille yarn is not larger than 50°. This chenille woven or knitted fabric has a very smooth surface touch and a silk-like high-grade luster. Since almost no risen fine fibers are removed, this fabric is excellent in durability.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial vascular graft having ultra fine fibers smaller than 0.5 denier in fineness as part of the inner wall. The artificial vascular graft of this invention is very flexible and produces very low blood leakage. The ease of performing anastomoses is greatly improved. Because of the ultra fine fiber there are many sites to which live cells adhere, the adaptability of the live cells to the fibers of the vascular graft increases, an excellent antithrombotic effect is exerted by the vascular graft, and the formation of the endothelial cells is satisfactory and is observed at a very early stage.

Abstract: A composite filament having an "islands-in-sea" type cross-sectional configuration having, in one embodiment, at least two kinds of islands, wherein the two islands are different in coefficient of contraction by at least 5%, or wherein one of the filamentary islands comprises a bicomponent filamentary type or eccentric filamentary type. These filamentary islands are relatively well distributed throughout the sea component and the sum of the weight of the filamentary islands is greater than the weight of the sea. Said composite filament may be made into a fabric as a filament of an ordinary denier. It is also possible to obtain a superfine fiber product being bulky or having an improved feel by superfining and heat-treating said composite filament.

Abstract: This invention provides an improvement in a spinneret assembly. The assembly comprises superposed rigid, first, second, third and fourth plate members. The first and second plate members partition off a first and second polymer chamber, respectively, from a second and third polymer chamber, respectively. The third plate member partitions off the third polymer chamber from one or more funnel-shaped fourth polymer chambers bored in the fourth plate member. The third plate member has a plurality of holes which are exposed to each fourth polymer chamber. The fourth plate member has at the lowermost ends of each fourth polymer chamber an orifice. The third plate member further has bored therein one or more slits, each slit being, on the under surface of the third plate member, of a multi-arm shape having at least three radially extending arms, each of which intervenes between at least two holes of the holes bored in the third plate member. The four plate members form a plurality of series of linked polymer passages, each series having at least one joining point at which two polymer streams join together. At least one of the polymer passages upstream of the joining point has at least one cross section that is narrower than any cross section of the polymer passage downstream of the joining point but upstream of the succeeding joining point, if any, or said at least one polymer passage upstream of the joining point having a length longer than that of the polymer passage downstream of the joining point but upstream of the succeeding joining point, if any. The assembly produces multi-ingredient multicore composite filaments each comprised of at least three polymer phases, and avoids defects in conventional assemblies which produce filaments which are not uniform in thickness and cross section and wherein the number of core polymer ingredients in each filament is limited, etc.
