    Abstract: PURPOSE:To acquire an electron tube of an excellent emission life property, such as a color cathode-ray tube for example, by furnishing an activated silicon oxide layer inside the outer container. CONSTITUTION:This electron tube is an electron tube with a cathode to generate electrons inside the air-exhausted outer container, in which an activated silicon oxide layer is formed inside the outer container. The activated silicon oxide means the silicon oxide to absorb remaining gas in the outer container, especially harmful gas to the emission from the cathode. This can be made from a silicon compound salt, and is considered to cover the exhausted outer container wall, and some parts of the surface of various electrodes, as a porous layer with numerous pores. The amount of the activated silicon oxide is preferable to be 1mg to 50mg per l of the outer container volume. If it is less than 1mg, it will scarcely affect the extension of emission life of the cathode, and if more than 50mg, the level of the effect is saturated.

SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing a shadow mask comprises the steps of forming the photosensitive resin layer at least on one face of the sheet metal 21, forming a resist layer having an opening part corresponding to a specified pattern by exposing and developing the pattern on the photosensitive resin layer, forming a recessed part in the sheet metal 21 by etching the sheet metal 21 from the opening part, and separating the resist film from the thin metal sheet.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain translucent holes having a uniform hole diameter, regardless of directions where shadow masks are cut out from a metal thin sheet rolled in the prescribed direction. SOLUTION: The translucent holes 8 are formed into a prescribed pattern in a specified area of the metal thin sheet 1 for forming the shadow mask 10. The translucent holes 8 are formed, by etching on the metal thin sheet 1 from the front and the back side. Two patterns for forming the translucent holes 8 are prepared through obtaining a crosswise pattern where a longer direction of the shadow mask 10 is matched with a rolling direction F, and obtaining lengthwise a pattern where a shorter direction of the shadow mask 10 is matched with the perpendicular direction to the rolling direction F. In the crosswise obtaining pattern, the diameter in a translucent hole forming pattern for small holes positioned in an end part in the shorter direction is set 2 μm or larger than the diameter in a translucent hole forming pattern for small holes positioned in an end part in the longer direction in a lengthwise obtaining pattern. Thereby, the hole diameter of the translucent holes 8 formed by etching can be made constant.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the reduction of white luminance caused by the pigment residue of a green filter layer at a practically nonproblematical level by forming the pattern of a black matrix left with resist at the formation position of the filter layer on the inner face of a panel, forming the pattern of a green filter layer with a green pigment, then forming the pattern of a blue or red filter layers. SOLUTION: The light absorbing layer 12 of the pattern of a black matrix is formed with photo-resist and graphite, and a residual hardened resist layer 13 is left at the expected pigment formation position. A green pigment coat layer 20G of the first color is formed on it, a green pigment layer is obtained, and a blue pigment layer 30B and a red pigment layer are formed on a residual green pigment layer 22G having a slight thickness on the residual hardened resist layer 13 of the other portion. The difference between the peak transmission factor and the transmission factor at other wavelength areas and the pigment concentration of the green filter layer are lower than those of the red or blue filter layer, and the adverse effect on the luminescence of blue and red phosphors by the residue of the green pigment is minimized.

CONSTITUTION:A green phosphor layer, which constitutes a fluorescent screen 13 of a color picture tube having an envelope consisting of a panel 10 and a funnel 11, a shadow mask 12 fitted inside the panel 10, and a fluorescent screen 13 provided so as to be opposed to the shadow mask 12, is formed from a ZnS:Cu, Al, Au phosphor which comprises a phosphor consisting of ZnS, as the base phosphor, and Cu, Al, and Au, as the activators, wherein the amounts of Cu and Au for activation are respectively 8X10 to 1.5X10 g and 0.01X10 to 6X10 g per gram of the base phosphor and the reflectance at 365nm is at least 15% supposing that the reflectance of an MgO diffusion plate is 100%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a smooth metal thin film with few pin holes on a phosphor screen, by adding water soluble sensitive agents with stilbazolium group to a phosphor slurry for use in formation of the last phosphor layer of plural phosphor layers. CONSTITUTION:To form the last layer 5R of red phosphor, a phosphor slurry, to which PVA with stilbazolium group of the chemical constitution expressed by the expression I is added, is used other than the main components of the other blue, green phosphor slurries. In the expression I, however, R is hydrogen, alkyl group, and lower hydroxyalkyl group, while X is strong acid anion. Also, the amount of addition of the PVA with stilbazolium group is 0.01 to 2 parts to the whole amount of the slurry. Prior to formation of an organic high- molecular thin film for forming a metal thin film, unevenness on the surface of the phosphor layer is therefore covered by smoothing processes using pure water and/or a water soluble organic high-molecular water solution, etc., so that formation of a smooth organic high-molecular thin film is facilitated, and a smooth metal thin film with few pin holes can thus be formed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a color image receiving tube with high luminousity/contrast as well as with no remaining pigment by perform application of silica colloid solution including multi-value metal ions, and further, by sequentially forming a first, second and third phosphor layers after water wash operation. CONSTITUTION:After the application of silica dispersion liquid including Ca ions or the like of multi-value ions on the whole inside face of a face plate provided with a porous member in the form of dot or stripe on a color absorbing substance coat film, the inside thereof is wasted with pure water and dried. One controlled with blue phosphor having navy blue pigment added thereto is applied to form phosphor layer. Similarly, one with green phosphor as a second color phosphor slurry and one with red phosphor having Indian red pigment added thereto as a third phosphor slurry are sequentially applied to form phosphor layer. It is thus possible to obtain a color image receiving tube with high luminousity/contrast as well as without no remaining pigment.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable the sufficient reduction of the surface resistance of a face plate by applying a humidification drying process after coating the outer surface of the face plate with a silicone alcoholate solution, and forming an anti-static film comprising amorphous silica. CONSTITUTION:After coated with a silicone alcoholate solution, the outer surface of a face plate 5 is subjected to a humidification drying process under an atmosphere of 30% to 95% relative humidity, thereby forming an anti-static film 0. The anti static film 5 has a mesh construction comprising amorphous silica and that a water molecule is contained in the mesh construction. According to the aforesaid construction, it is possible to obtain a cathode-ray tube having the anti-static film 5 capable of lowering sufficiently the surface resistance of the face plate 5 without causing any deterioration of optical characteristics.
