Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve a contrast characteristic by giving sufficient black to a black matrix in a display surface. CONSTITUTION: A black matrix formed on a substrate 1 comprises a layer formed of black color pigment particle 2 and a fine particle pigment layer 5 formed in a substrate side of the layer. In the fine particle pigment layer formed in the substrate side, there is no irregular reflection of external light because of a small grain size, and an irregular reflection component 6 by the black color pigment particle can be damped, consequently to improve a contrast characteristic.
