    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a porous membrane having many fine uniform through- holes and being applicable to filter membranes, separation membranes and medical materials in which the porous through-hole structure is utilized. CONSTITUTION:This membrane is prepared by stretching a blend comprising a polyethylene modified with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its derivative and a thermoplastic resin containing functional groups reactive with the polyethylene and having a sea-island structure in which the thermoplastic resin constitutes islands and composed of many fibrils radiating from an island among the island components comprising the thermoplastic resin and many fine and uniform through-holes formed among the fibrils.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently separate and recover indium in high selectivity using simple operation by bringing a specific hydrophobic compound having N- nitrosohydroxyamino group into contact with a solution containing indium. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophobic compound (e.g. N-nitrosophenylhydroxylamine ammonium salt), expressed by the formula (R1 is 3-30C straight-chain, branched or alicyclic alkyl or alkenyl; R2 is phenylene, naphthylene, hydrophenylene or hydronaphthylene; X is H, inorganic or organic ammonium ion or alkali metal; n is 0, 1 or 2) and having N-nitrosohydroxyamino group is prepared. The resultant hydrophobic compound is then brought into contact with a solution containing indium to selectively absorb the indium thereon. The indium is subsequently eluted with a strong acid to selectively separate and recover the indium.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane containing agar and/or agarose and having a small dispersion of a membrane thickness is and a good surface smoothness, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A mixture formed by adding hydroxyalkylcellulose to a compound containing agar and/or agarose and water as occasion demands is made into a sheet-like gel. Thereafterm while a load of 0.01-2 kgf/cm2 is applied to the sheet-like gel, the sheet-like gel is dried at 0-40 deg.C to obtain a membrane containing the agar and/or the agarose. A porous material and/or water absorbing material are laminated on one side or both sides of the sheet-like gel comprising the mixture which contains the compound containing the agar and/or the agarose and the hydroxyalkylcellulose. The sheet-like gel and the material are dried at 0-40 deg.C while a load is being applied. Then, thereby the membrane containing the agar and/or the agarose can be more effectively manufactured.
