    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an oriented film or sheet of improved impact strength by specifying the sum of the absolute value of the birefringence index involving the direction of molecular chains of a film or sheet made of a specified polyglutarimide resin and the direction rectangular thereto and the absolute value of the birefringence index involving the direction of thickness of the film or sheet. CONSTITUTION:A polyglutarimide resin comprising at least 20wt.% repeating units of the formula (wherein R1 nd R2 are each H or a 1-4C hydrocarbon group; and R3 is H, a 1-12C hydrocarbon group, a cycloalkyl, benzyl, phenyl, naphthyl or the like) and having a number-average molecular weight of about 10000 or above is extruded to form an unoriented film or sheet of a thickness of about 1mum-10mm. This film or sheet is biaxially oriented at a draw ratio of about 1.3-4.0 in a temperature range higher than the glass transition temperature of the resin by about 5-40 deg.C with a biaxial orienting machine to obtain a biaxially oriented film or sheet having markedly improved impact strength and satisfying the conditions that the sum of the absolute value of the birefringence index involving the direction of molecular chains of the film or sheet and the direction of thickness of the film or sheet and the absolute value of the birefringence index involving the direction of thickness of the film or sheet is 2X10 or above.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyamide, having a high glass transition temperature and high elastic modulus even at high temperatures by polymerizing an epsilon-lactam in the presence of an alkaline catalyst, a polyfunctional cocatalyst and a diamine and/or a diol having an aromatic group. CONSTITUTION:A polyamide is obtained by polymerizing an epsilon-lactam (e.g. epsilon-caprolactam) in the presence of an alkaline catalyst (e.g. Na salt of the epsilon- caprolactam), a polyfunctional cocatalyst (preferably hexamethylene-1,6- biscarbamidocaprolactam, etc.) and a diamine and/or a diol having an aromatic group. For example, 2,4-diaminotoluene is cited as the aromatic group-containing diamine. For example, bisphenol A is cited as the aromatic group-containing diol. Furthermore, the polymerization is preferably carried out by using molten epsilon-caprolactam as a reaction solvent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition excellent in low-temperature impact resistance without detriment to its inherent mechanical properties by mixing under heating an acid-modified crystalline polypropylene with two compounds having specified functional groups in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A polypropylene resin composition is obtained by heating a mixture comprising an acid-modified crystalline polypropylene (A) [one obtained by reacting an isotactic or syndiotactic crystalline polypropylene with an unsaturated carboxylic acid (anhydride) in a solvent or in a molten state in the presence (absence) of a reaction initiator], a compound (B) having at least two hydroxyl groups (e.g. ethylene glycol) and a compound (C) having at least two NCO groups in such amounts that 40-98pts.wt. component A and 60-2pts.wt. total of components B and C are present and that the equivalent ratio of the OH groups of component B to the NCO groups of component C is 0.2-25 to 100 deg.C or above. This composition is excellent in impact resistance, especially low-temperature impact resistance without detriment to the mechanical properties of the crystalline polypropylene resin.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate core removing work and to repeatedly use a core, by using the core made of room temp. vulcanizable silicone rubber having specific tensile strength and specific elongation. CONSTITUTION:A core made of room temp. vulcanizable silicone rubber having tensile strength of 25kg/cm or more and elongation of 130% or more is used. This core can be easily prepared by casting a uniform mixture consisting of polysiloxane diol and a predetermined amount of a curing agent in a mold and allowing the same to stand at 25 deg.C for 70hr or more to perform curing. Since the silicone rubber has strength and flexibility, the core can be easily taken out of the mold even when the shape thereof is complicated and the core can be used repeatedly. Further, the reactivity of a raw material for reactive injection molding is not obstructed and the heat resistance of the core is also excellent.
