    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyamide excellent in stretchability, especially suitable for a successive biaxial orientation method. SOLUTION: The polyamide contains a unit comprising a lactone and/or an aminocarboxylic acid, a unit comprising a dicarboxylic acid and a unit comprising a diamine containing a 6-16C branched alicyclic diamine. Specifically, the polyamide contains 50-99.8 mol% of the lactone and/or the aminocarboxylic acid, 0.1-25 mol% of the dicarboxylic acid and 0.1-25 mol% of the diamine, wherein 10-100 mol% of the diamine is a 6-16C branched alicyclic diamine.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the fiber having an improved tensile elongation, tensile modulus, etc., by specifying the structural unit of a polyglutarimide resin and the birefringence of the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A polyglutarimide resin containing >=10mol% (preferably >=20mol%) of the structural unit of formula (R1 and R2 are independently H or 1-4C hydrocarbon group; R3 is H, 1-12C hydrocarbon group, etc.) is formed to a fiber having a birefringence of 0.3X10 to 8.0X10 . The birefringence can be attained by drawing the spun fiber yarn 1.5-7 times at a temperature higher than the glass transition temperature of the resin by 3-50 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film or sheet having high elongation at break, high strength and excellent heat resistance by stretching a film or sheet of a specified polyglutarimide resin at a specified draw ration. CONSTITUTION:This film or sheet is obtained by stretching 0.2 -to 5.0-fold a film or sheet of polyglutarimide resin having at least 20wt.% structural units of formula I and at most 20wt.% structural units of formula II. In the formulas I and II, R1, R2 and R4 are each H, a 1-4C hydrocarbon group, cycloalkyl, an aromatic group such as benzyl, phenyl or naphthyl, or a heterocyclic compound. The polyglutarimide resin is synthesized by the reaction of an acrylic resin produced from methyl methacrylate as the principal raw material with ammonia or a primary amine, and the proportion of the structural units of formula I to those of formula II can be adjusted by appropriately varying the amount of the ammonia or primary amine, the reaction temperature, the reaction pressure, the reaction time, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily obtain high-purity 2-pyrrolidone polymer having a high mol.wt. by washing 2-pyrrolidone polymer with an aqueous acid solution having a specific pH, separating the polymer from the solution, and drying it. CONSTITUTION:2-Pyrrolidone is polymerized in the presence of a basic polymerization catalyst (e.g. pottasium hydroxide) and carbon dioxide as a promotor. The obtained 2-pyrrolidone polymer is washed with an aqueous acid solution having a pH of 1-6. The polymer is then separated from the solution and dried. Thus, high-purity 2-pyrrolidone polymer can be easily obtained which has a high mol.wt. and from which the catalyst residue has been sufficiently removed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thermoplastic polymer composition having excellent appli cation properties without any adverse effect on the mechanical properties of said polymer by mixing, as being heated, a thermoplastic polymer with a com pound containing active H atoms and an isocyanate group-bearing compound. CONSTITUTION:The subject thermoplastic polymer composition is obtained by melt-kneading (A) 40 to 98 pts.wt., preferably 60 to 95 pts.wt. of a thermo plastic polymer such as polypropylene or ABS together with (B) a compound having 2 or more active H atoms such as polypropylene glycol and (C) a com pound bearing 2 or more isocyanate groups so that the total amount of (B)+(C) is 60 to 2 pts.wt., preferably 40 to 5 pts.wt. and the equivalent ratio of the active H atom in (B) to the isocyanate groups in (C) is 0.5 to 2, preferably 0.8 to 1.5 at a temperature high than 60 deg.C, for example, by means of a Banburg mixer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To cause molding operation to be easy and to improve its productivity by using, as a core, the hollow molded object having a specified thermal deformation temperature, when a hollow product is molded by reactive injection molding. CONSTITUTION:The hollow molded object, as a core, is composed of the resin of e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, 6 nylon, 66 nylon, polycarbonate or the polymer alloy containing these resins as a base having the thermal deformation temperature of at least 10 deg. in the measurement carried out by ASTM D-648 (load 4.6kg/cm ). This hollow molded object is easily produced by blow molding. After the mold in which the core made by above-mentioned process is set has been adjusted at a prescribed temperature, liquid RIM raw material (or R-RIM raw material) adjusted at a prescribed temperature is poured into a mold with RIM molding machine (or R-RIM molding machine), casting molding machine or manual operation. Thus, the hollow product is produced.
