The positioning device 217 is operable to move the external roll 214 relative to the outer surface of the belt 230 to change a wrap length of the belt 230 on the outer surface 215, based on the temperature of the outer surface 209, to maintain a substantially constant temperature at an interface between the surface of the belt 230 and marking material.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus to remove fibers and fine particles(debris) in the vicinity of the nozzles of a print head.
    SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a print head protector 50 surrounding the print head, and has a first slot 60, a second slot 62 surrounding the first slot 60 and wider than the first slot. A positive pressure air supply source is connected to a suction port 64 communicating with the first slot, and an outlet 66 communicating with the second slot is connected to a negative pressure source. Air from the suction port 64 flows externally as if to separate from the print head through the first slot 60, eliminates fibers and fine particles (debris) from paper approaching the print head. The debris is captured by a negative pressure near to the second slot 62 and is removed from a printer through the outlet 66.
