PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator which is used in an optical waveguide switch. SOLUTION: A thermal actuator 500 is formed with a substantially straight beam 510. The beam 510 is formed with a plurality of beam segments 520, 522 and 524. The beam segments 520, 522 and 524 have predetermined beam widths 525, 526 and 527, respectively. The beam widths 525, 526 and 527 vary according to a predetermined pattern along the longitudinal direction 518 of the beam 510. The beam 510 buckles when heated with a built-in heating means 528 and 546, the intermediate point 519 of the beam moves toward a predetermined direction 548 due to the buckling of the beam, and a built-in optical waveguide switch is operated by the movement of the intermediate point 519 of the beam. SOLUTION: The actuator system 500 is constituted such that beams 501 and 502 form a diamond-wise shape and a beam central part 501a and a beam central part 502a are connected by a cross-over 503. When motive power is applied to the beams 501 and 502, the diamond-wise shape is vertically moved. A second layer including the lower beam and a first layer including the upper beam than above the second layer are formed on a substrate. A constitution that the upper beam and the lower beam are connected at one end and a method for forming it may be adopted. At that time, the upper and the lower beam are made to a constitution that width, length, thickness or its optional combination are different such that vertical motion of the actuator system can be controlled. The liquid component in the solution is removed by drying or removed by absorption by a water absorbent layer 104. The display is formed by positioning an electrode layer in contact with or close to the back face of the substrate 102 (and in front of the display layer 106) to position the substrate 102 between the back electrode layer and the display layer 106. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To open many port holes on the surface at a side opposite to outlet apertures so that high resolution printing can be performed and ink leakage and clogging may not occur. SOLUTION: On the port hole opening surface prepared is a jet stack 102 so that a plurality of the port holes 106 are opened. A piezoelectric array 110 which is planarized by filling the space between the piezoelectric elements with a polymer is adhered to the port hole opening surface of the stack 102 so that the opening of the port holes 106 may be closed by the polymer between the elements. The port holes 106 are extended through the polymer between the elements by partially ablating the polymer between the elements from the outlet aperture surface side of the stack 102 using a laser beam and using the stack 102 as a mask. An opening plate 130 is adhered to the outlet aperture surface side of the stack 102 to form an outlet port second section 138 which communicates with via holes 142 of a circuit board 140 through the port holes 106.
