Process and ultracompact plant for continuous production of hot rolled steel strip comprising an ingot mould which produces a very thin slab at a speed between 4 and 16 m/min, wherein the thickness of the oairrow sides is between 15 and 50 mm with a central swelling. Such slab has a core in which the steel. is> still liquid; it , is run through a vertical pre-rolling device which reduces the thickness of the slab, hence flattening it. The solidified slab can thus undergo a first light rolling process by means of a pinch roll and, by forming a free curve, it moves to a horizontal po- sition where it can undergo a second light rolling process by means of another pinch roll, a heating process (if required) in an inductor, a superficial descaling process and a series of reductions in a rolling mill made up of at least three stands, thereby maintaining its temperature along the train above the Ar3 recrys- tallization point. Downstream of the rolling mill, there are a roller way with cooling showers, flying shears for cutting the strip to the required size, pinch rolls and at least two coilers for forming coils of the hot rolled strip.
Abstract:
In a process for manufacturing steel strip with a thickness of less than 10 mm, a steel billet is cast in a chilled continuous casting die. The incompletely solidified steel billet is compressed on leaving the die until the inner walls of the solidified casting shell are welded together. The thickness of the solidified casting shell is reduced as a result of a > 40 % deformation.

Zum Erzeugen eines Stahlbandes (1) weist eine Gießwalzanlage eine Flüssigstahl-Vorratseinrichtung (2), eine Flüssigstahl-Zugabevorrichtung (3), eine vertikal arbeitende Gießeinrich-tung (5) mit mitlaufender Kokille (6), eine Reduktionsein-richtung (7) mit einer Vielzahl von Rollenpaaren (8), eine Umlenkeinrichtung (9) zum Umlenken des gegossenen Stahlbandes (1) in eine horizontale Lage, ein horizontal arbeitendes Walzwerk (10) und eine Haspeleinrichtung (11) auf, die über einzelne technologische Regelkreise (2' bis 11') geführt wer-den. Zur integrierten Einstellung der technologischen Regel-kreise (2' bis 11') weist sie ferner ein die Anlagenteile (2 bis 11) regelungstechnisch miteinander verbindendes Leitsys-tem (12) auf, das auf der Basis von mathematischen Modellen (17) arbeitet und die einzelnen Anlagenteile (2 bis 11) in Bezug auf ihr Zusammenwirken in Abstimmung aufeinander derart führt, dass die Auswirkungen der Regelschritte eines Anlagen-teils (2 bis 11) auf in Massenflussrichtung folgende Anlagen-teile (2 bis 11) berücksichtigt werden.

A process and an ultracompact plant for the endless production of hot rolled steel strip comprising an ingot mould (15) that produces a very thin slab, having narrow sides with thickness in the range between 40 and 55 mm and a central swelling, at a speed in the range between 4 and 16 m/min. Such a slab, which displays a core in which the steel is still liquid, is passed through a vertical pre-rolling device (16) that reduces the thickness of the slab and flattens it. The solidified slab may thus be subjected to a first mild rolling by a conveyor (17) and, by forming a free curve, takes a horizontal position where it is subjected to a first surface descaling, a first rolling, a heating in an inductor (23), a second surface descaling and a series of reductions in a rolling mill (30) formed by at least two stands, by maintaining its temperature along the mill above the recrystallisation point Ar3. Downstream of the rolling mill (30) there are provided a roller runway with cooling showers, a flying shear (33) for cutting to length the strip produced, pinch rolls and at least two spinning wheels (34) for the formation of coils of the hot rolled strip.

A method for producing coated hot-rolled or cold-rolled products, particularly steel strip, and an apparatus for carrying out the method, wherein thin strip is cast especially by a travelling mold and the cast strip is guided on-line as a master strip into an inversion casting plant for strip coating, the surface of the coated strip is smoothed with rolls, and if necessary, the thickness of the coated and smoothed strip is reduced in a rolling process. The apparatus includes a strip casting plant, particularly with a travelling mold for producing a thin strip, an inversion casting plant arranged on-line following the strip casting plant for coating the thin strip or master strip from the strip casting plant, at least one pair of smoothing rolls arranged following the inversion casting plant for smoothing the surface of the coated strip emerging from the inversion casting plant, and, if necessary, a subsequently arranged rolling mill for a reducing deformation of the coated and smoothed strip to the strip thickness to be produced.

A method for producing a steel strip which has been cast as a stand in a cooled oscillating continuous chill mould, comprises squeezing the strand emerging from the chill mould until it has a first cross-sectional thickness (40-50 mm), followed by hot rolling the strand until it has a second cross-sectional thickness (2-25 mm). Deviations in the normal path of travel of the strand following hot rolling are corrected by adjusting the thickness to which the strand is subjected during the first squeezing step.

A manufacturing line for making hot rolled steel strip including a mold for the continuous casting of steel strip, a strip guidance device located downstream from the mold for the diversion of the cast strip into a horizontal plane, a crosscutting device, a temperature equalization furnace, and a rolling mill. To reduce capital costs, energy consumption and space requirements, and to avoid metallurgical errors in processing, a curved temperature equalization furnace surrounds the strip guidance device. A straight temperature equalization furnace horizontally adjoins the curved temperature equalization furnace, and includes a means for crosscutting the strip prior to its exit from the temperature equalization environment for subsequent rolling.

A hydraulic roll protection system in which positioning of an adjustable roll relative to a fixed roll is caused by adjusting screws acting on movable journal boxes through a pressurized piston cylinder device. A relief valve between a hand pump and the cylinder acts to relieve excessive pressures. A switch valve connects the hand pump alternately to advance the roll journal to normal gap positions and to retract the roll from the fixed roll.
