Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing or inactivating a contaminant such as phosphorus, sulfur and lead in exhaust combustion gas. SOLUTION: An apparatus and a method are provided for delivering molybdenum from a lubricant source to a fuel combustion system or to the exhaust gas therefrom. The molybdenum derived from a lubricant or fuel and the phosphorus is interacted with sulfur and/or lead derived form a combustion product. In this manner, the molybdenum scavenges or inactivates harmful material migrated into the fuel or combustion product. A catalytic converter, a sensor and/or an automobile on-board diagnostic device therefore can be prevented from being poisoned by such a harmful material and the durability of an exhaust-after-treatment system can also be improved. Abstract:
Concentrates for lubricating oil compositions are prepared by mixing at elevated temperature: (i) at least one high molecular weight ashless dispersant; (ii) at least one oil-soluble overbased metal detergent; and (iii) at least one other concentrate additive provided that the additive is first mixed with the detergent or the dispersant.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the use of an additive composition to improve the conductivity of a fuel oil. SOLUTION: The use of the additive composition to improve the conductivity of the fuel oil is provided. The additive composition comprises a polymeric condensation product formed by the reaction of an aliphatic aldehyde or ketone, or a reactive equivalent, with at least one ester of p-hydroxybenzoic acid. Abstract:
Methods and compositions are provided for cleaning and inhibiting the formation of fouling deposits on jet engine components during the combustion of turbine combustion fuel oils. Methods and compositions are also provided for inhibiting the formation and emission of soot and smoke from jet engine exhaust during turbine combustion fuel oil combustion. The methods employ a derivative of (thio)phosphonic acid added to the turbine combustion fuel oil. The preferred derivative is pentaerythritol ester of polyisobutenylthiophosphonic acid.
Abstract:
A synergistic antimicrobial composition having two components. The first component is a hydroxymethyl-substituted phosphorus compound. The second component is hexahydro-1,3,5-tris(2-hydroxyethyl)-s-triazine.
