Abstract: A method of converting video data from a YUV format to an RGB format comprising (a) performing a matrix transformation of Y, U and V pixel data of a set of possible Y, U and V parameters into corresponding R, G and B parameters, (b) determining whether the set of R, G and B parameters forms a first lookup table whose size exceeds the size of a particular memory space, (c) in the event the lookup table is too large for the memory space, truncating least significant bits of at least the U and V parameters, (d) repeating steps (a), (b) and (c) until the first lookup table fits the memory space, and then storing the first lookup table in the memory space, and (e) using the first lookup table to provide RGB pixel data using the YUV data as addresses thereto.

Abstract: Digital samples of e.g. video data to be displayed on a computer monitor is processed by a video graphics circuit, which has the task of both aligning samples provided by an asynchronous sampler, and blending those samples, which usually suffer a series of the degrading effect as a low pass filter. The present invention describe a circuit that combines a sample aligner and a sample blender into one circuit in which the sample data passes through only one filter, and thus suffers only one low pass effect. In addition, only two multipliers, one delay, and one adder are required, instead of double the number as would be required by using the prior art. The total amount of circuitry is thus reduced and the quality of the resulting signal is improved.

Abstract: A memory address pointer that selects a memory location that is mapped to a video graphics circuit port is incremented only when all bytes in a memory location have been read from or written to by the host CPU. This does not depend on the order in which the host CPU reads or writes data bytes. Therefore a video controller that uses the present invention will work with 8 bit, 16 bit as well as high performance 32 bit input/output instructions.
