Abstract:
Processes for the treatment of silicon wafers to form a high density non-uniform distribution of oxygen precipitate nuclei therein such that, upon being subjected to the heat treatment cycles of essentially any arbitrary electronic device manufacturing process, the wafers form oxygen precipitates in the bulk and a precipitate-free zone near the surface are disclosed. The processes involve activation of inactive oxygen precipitate nuclei by performing heat treatments between about 400° C. and about 600° C. for at least about 1 hour.
Abstract:
A method is provided for cleaning a surface of a semiconductor wafer comprising: (a) contacting the front surface of the wafer with a slurry comprising an abrasive agent and a polymeric rheological modifier; (b) contacting the front surface of the semiconductor wafer with an oxidant; and (c) irradiating the front surface of the semiconductor wafer with ultraviolet light.
Abstract:
Crystal pulling apparatus for continuous pulling of silicon ingots in which an oxygen-containing crucible may be eliminated are disclosed. A solid silicon support having three indentations is used to hold pools of molten silicon. Silicon is added to a melting pool and weirs over into a stabilization pool and further weirs over into a growth pool from which a silicon ingot is grown.
Abstract:
A photovoltaic (PV) module includes a front layer, a rear layer, and a string of series connected PV cell segments laminated between the front layer and the rear layer. Each PV cell segment has a front surface including a front electrode and a rear surface including a rear electrode. Adjacent PV cell segments are overlapped by an overlap amount with the front electrode of one of the adjacent PV cell segments disposed under and in direct contact with the rear electrode the other of the adjacent PV cell segments. At least one adhesive strip is attached to the bottom surfaces of a pair of adjacent PV cell segments.
Abstract:
A solar module for generating power from solar energy includes a laminate including a top surface, a bottom surface, and a plurality of solar cells disposed between the top surface and the bottom surface. Features are attached to the bottom surface to dissipate heat from the solar module. Each feature includes a gel material, and a bottom surface in contact with the bottom surface of the solar module such that the entirety of the feature extends on the exterior of the solar module.
Abstract:
A method and system for double-layer continuous Cz crystal growing are disclosed. The system includes a crucible assembly including an inner crucible in an outer crucible, the inner crucible defining a growth region and a feed region, the crucible assembly containing molten material (e.g., silicon). The system also includes a susceptor, a continuous feed supply for providing a continuous feed to the feed region, and a temperature control system disposed about the susceptor and configured to cool a region of silicon at a bottom of the growth region to form a solid layer, the solid layer facilitating reducing an oxygen concentration in the growing crystal. The method includes separating molten material into the growth region and the feed region, initiating cooling at a bottom of the growth region, and solidifying a region of material at the bottom of the growth region, such that a solid layer is formed.
Abstract:
An example micro-grid includes a load meter, a renewable-source power generation device, and a generator bank. The load meter is coupled between a load and a distribution bus and is configured to measure a load value representing total power delivered to the load. The renewable-source power generation device is coupled to the distribution bus and is configured to supply a first power to the load. The generator bank is coupled to the distribution bus and is controllable according to the load value to supply a second power to the load. The first power and the second power sum to the total power delivered to the load.
Abstract:
Clamping assemblies for securing a solar module to a structure include a base, a bracket, and a fastener. The base may be attached to a multi-planar roof of the structure. The base and the bracket together define a mounting region for receiving a portion of the solar module. The fastener connects the base and the clamp and can selectively apply a clamping force to the portion of the solar module.
Abstract:
This disclosure generally relates to methods of assembling an alternating current (AC) photovoltaic (PV) module, including a direct current (DC) PV module and a micro-inverter, at an assembly location. One example method includes assembling the AC PV module by mechanically attaching and electrically grounding the micro-inverter to the DC PV module, testing a DC electrical continuity between the DC PV module and the micro-inverter, and labeling the AC PV module as compliant with a code or standard.
