Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for encoding and decoding an image. The method for decoding an image comprises the steps of: comparing the size of the current transform unit with the size of the smallest transform unit (STU); and decoding information indicating whether transformation is performed on the current transform unit and determining whether to perform inverse transformation on the current transform unit based on the decoded information indicating whether the transformation is performed, when the size of the current transform unit is equal to that of the STU.

The present invention provides an apparatus and a method of encoding and decoding using low density parity check (LDPC) codes, which can modify the arrangement of message bits constituting a cumulative syndrome bit row so as to omit transmission of the partial cumulative syndrome bit row, thereby enabling reduction in the amount of the bits transmitted from a decoding apparatus.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for selectively displaying a subtitle are provided. The method for selectively displaying a subtitle comprises the steps of acquiring video information and subtitle information corresponding to the video information; determining a preferred level of a user who views the video information and the subtitle information; generating output subtitle information by processing the subtitle information based on the determined preferred level; and synchronizing the video information with the output subtitle information and outputting the synchronized information. Therefore, learning effects can be maximized by providing level services considering the characteristics of users in the field of language study.

분산 비디오 복호 과정의 보조 정보를 기반으로 블록 기반 부호화의 움직임 벡터를 효율적으로 예측하며 블록 기반 부호화의 예측 모드를 결정함으로써 개선된 복잡도를 가지는 변환 부호화 장치 및 방법이 제공된다. 변환 부호화 장치는 키 프레임을 복호화하고 상기 키 프레임을 기반으로 보조 정보를 생성하며 상기 보조 정보를 이용하여 WZ 프레임을 복호화하는 분산 비디오 복호화부 및 상기 복호화된 WZ 프레임 및 키 프레임 중 적어도 하나를 상기 생성된 보조 정보를 기반으로 움직임 예측을 수행하여 블록 기반의 비디오 부호화하는 부호화부를 포함할 수 있다. 따라서, 기존의 변환 부호화에 비해 복잡도를 크게 낮추며 향상된 압축 효율을 제공할 수 있다.

The present invention provides a bit rate estimating device and a bit rate estimating method thereof which improve operation speed and accuracy and simplify performed operation. The bit rate estimating method according to the present invention comprises the following steps of: receiving a syntax element; calculating the number of symbol bins in the syntax element; and determining an average bit amount corresponding to the number of the symbol bins using a look-up table (LUT).

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transcoding from distributed video coding to block-based video encoding are provided to reduce the cycle of frames to be encoded by determining the group of picture (GOP) of the block-based video encoding independently of the GOP of the distributed video coding, thereby improving the compression efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A distributed video coding (DVC) decoder (210) decodes key frames, generates auxiliary information based on the key frames, and decodes Wyner-Ziv (WZ) frames using auxiliary information. A block-based encoder (230) performs the motion prediction of at least one of the decoded WZ frames and key frames based on the auxiliary information to perform the block-based video encoding of the at least one of the decoded WZ frames and key frames. A predicted motion vector (PMV) generator (220) generates PMV based on the auxiliary information.

PURPOSE: Methods for encoding and decoding using a fast LDPCA(Low Density Parity Check Accumulate) code and apparatuses for decoding and encoding using the same are provided to reduce the complexity of a decoder by reducing an iterative process for decoding an LDPCA code. CONSTITUTION: An LLR(Log Likelihood Ratio) Intrinsic value is calculated(S300). The LLR Intrinsic value and a first estimated coefficient value are used as the same meaning and an entropy is calculated based on the calculated LLR Intrinsic value(S310). The number of parity bit transmission is calculated based on the calculated entropy(S320). One parity bit is transmitted based on the number of first parity bit transmission in which a bit plane is calculated. The bit plane is restored based on the parity bit to which the bit plane is transmitted(S330).

생성된 멀티미디어 파일을 효율적으로 관리하고 생성하기 위한 멀티미디어 파일을 관리하는 방법 및 멀티미디어 파일 생성 장치가 개시되어 있다. 멀티미디어 파일 생성 장치에서 멀티미디어 파일을 관리하는 방법은 멀티미디어 파일을 관리하는 데 사용되는 부가 정보를 추출하는 단계와 부가 정보를 멀티미디어 데이터에 적용하여 상기 멀티미디어 파일을 생성하는 단계를 포함할 수 있다. 따라서, 멀티미디어 파일의 정보를 통해서 멀티미디어 파일을 효율적으로 관리할 수 있고 멀티미디어 파일을 이용한 데이터베이스를 구성할 때 분류가 용이하다.
