A mechanism of inhibiting activity of P2X7 receptor on doparminergic neuronal cells is provided to prevent or cure the neurodegenerative disorder related to the activity of the P2X7 receptor by suppressing the volume increase and the necrosis of the nerve cell. A nerve cell protecting agent includes an inhibitor or an antagonist of the P2X7 receptor existing in the dopaminergic neuron as an active ingredient. The nerve cell protecting agent protects the nerve cell from the cell volume and the necrosis increased by the over-activity of the P2X7 receptor, by ATP.

PURPOSE: A method for screening a chaperonin modulator is provided to effectively prevent or treat neurodegenerative diseases without cell apoptosis. CONSTITUTION: A method for screening a chaperonin modulator comprises: a step of preparing a candidate substance and VRK2; a step of measuring VRK2 expression level or kinase activation; and a step of measuring a change of VRK2 expression level or kinase activation when treating the candidate substance and VRK2 together. The chaperonin modulator increases the amount or extends the lifetime of chaperonin.

In chemical formula I, R is C1-20 alkyl group, and Z is an aromatic or aliphatic derivate selected from the chemical formula A, wherein R' and R'' are C1-20 alkyl group and n is a repeating unit as an integer.
