    Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for producing lactide form lactate is provided to obtain high purity lactide with high yield by treating lactate with a specific solvent, adding a catalyst, and phase separation, thereby largely lowering costs of polylactide acid. CONSTITUTION: A method for producing lactide comprises the steps of: converting a lactate solution into lactide under the presence of a first organic solvent which enables azeotropic distillation with water; performing phase separation of the converted product into a second organic solvent and a water mixture; and extracting an isolated organic phase and evaporating the solvents.
