    Abstract: PURPOSE: A bumper beam is provided to enhance shock absorption efficiency by restraining a rear surface, a top surface and a bottom surface of a beam main body from being deformed. CONSTITUTION: A box-shaped beam main body(1) is manufactured from steel or aluminum extrusion material. The beam main body(1) is trapezoid-shaped in cross section. A rib(2) is longitudinally and integrally formed with the beam main body(1) within a cavity thereof. A bumper stay is installed at the rear opposite sides of the beam main body(2). A single reinforcing member(14) is provided which has a predetermined length ranging from a center rear surface(3) to top and bottom surfaces(13,13') of the beam main body(1), and manufactured from the same material as the beam main body(1). The single reinforcing member(14) is jointed to the top and bottom surfaces(13,13') of the beam main body(1) with rivets(15).

CONSTITUTION: A bumper stay(12) fixed to a bumper beam(2) is inserted into and fixed to a side member(1) of a car body. A fixing protrusion(11) is formed on a reinforcement panel(10) fixed to the inner side of the side member(1) to reinforce the rigidity of the side member(1) for the end of the bumper stay(12) to be fixed by the fixing protrusion(11). The fixing protrusion(11) of the reinforcement panel(10) is formed by a burring process to determine the installation position of a bumper and to stably prevent the bumper stay(12) from being pushed.
