Abstract: PURPOSE: Safety disconnection units by using a buck converter for an electric vehicle is provided to realize a free charge relay function and a main relay function by using a current control of the buck converter. CONSTITUTION: Safety disconnection units comprises an FET(22), a diode(23), an inductor(24), a capacitor(c), and a current controller(27). The FET receives a battery current as a source(21), and controls a drain current value according to the voltage level applied to a gate. The diode limits the output current of the drain terminal so as to flow the current in one direction. The inductor generates an induction magnetic flux according to the variation of output current of the drain terminal. The capacitor charges and discharges charges according to the current flow through the inductor. The current controller outputs a control signal for controlling the drain current by feedback detecting the current passed through the inductor so as to charge the voltage of the capacitor. In case the voltage of the capacitor is charged more over than the predetermined level, the current controller adjusts a duty ratio of the FET with 100% so as to correspond the battery voltage with the inverter(26) voltage.
