Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for optimizing a manufacturing process. In one aspect, the method comprises repeatedly performing the following: i) selecting a configuration of control settings for a manufacturing process, based on a causal model that measures causal relationships between control settings and a measure of a success of the manufacturing process; ii) determining the measure of the success of the manufacturing process using the configuration of control settings; and iii) adjusting, based on the measure of the success of the manufacturing process using the configuration of control settings, the causal model.
Abstract:
Method for active battery management to optimize battery performance. The method includes providing signal injections for charging and discharging of a battery. The signal injections include various charging and discharging profiles, rates, and endpoints. Response signals corresponding with the signal injections are received, and a utility of those signals is measured. Based upon the utility of the response signals, data relating to charging and discharging of the battery is modified to optimize battery performance and to determine when to discharge the battery into a power grid in order to return power to the grid in exchange for an economic benefit such as a payment or rebate from a utility company.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed towards methods and systems for characterizing sensors and developing classifiers for sensor responses on a utility grid. Experiments are conducted by selectively varying utility grid parameters and observing the responses of utility grid to the variation. Methods and systems of this invention then associate the particular responses of the utility grid sensors with specific variations in the grid parameters, based on knowledge of the areas of space and periods of time where the variation in grid parameters may affect the sensor response. This associated data is then used to updating a model of grid response.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for improving visual attention models use effectiveness assessment from an environment as feedback to improve visual attention models. The effectiveness assessment uses data indicative of a particular behavior, which is related to visual attention allocation, received from the environment to assess relative effectiveness of the environment on influencing the particular behavior.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for implementing experimental trials on utility grids. The variation of grid parameters are coordinated to create periods of time and areas of space from within which the variations of grid parameters do not overlap, allowing sensor data within those periods of time and areas of space to be associated with particular variations in grid parameters. This associated data can in turn be used to improve models of sensor response and utility grid behavior.
Abstract:
A content optimization system includes a content generation module, a content evaluation module, and a rule management module. The content generation module is adapted to generate a content configuration, wherein the content configuration comprises a plurality of content elements and one or more relationships among the plurality of content elements, wherein the one or more relationships are in accordance with a set of rules on content generation. The content evaluation module is adapted to evaluate content performance of a piece of content assembled from the content configuration. The rule management module is adapted to amend the set of rules based on the evaluated content performance.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Systems and methods provide for assigning pieces of content to time-slots samples for measuring effects of the assigned content. Systems and methods provide for receiving pair-wise content relatedness data that identifies each piece of content as experimental content or control content relative to other pieces of content, and algorithmically assigning experimental or control content pieces to time-slot samples using the content relatedness data, wherein additional content pieces assigned to a particular time-slot sample exclude non-identical related experimental content pieces defined relative to an experimental content piece previously assigned to the particular time-slot sample.
