Abstract: In the present invention there is disclosed a process for preparing copolymers of tetrahydrofuran and but-2-ine-1,4-diol, containing double bonds. The preparation process is characterized by subjecting the tetrahydrofuran and but-2-ine-1,4-diol copolymers to partial hydrogenation on a hydrogenation catalyst, whereby these tetrahydrofuran and but-2-ine-1,4-diol copolymers are prepared by catalytic polymerization of tetrahydrofuran on a heterogeneous acidic polymerization catalyst having acidity of acid centers pKia less than +2 in concentration of at least 0.005 mmol per gram of the catalyst, in the presence of but-2-ine-1,4-diol. For this preparation process a plurality of polymerization catalysts can be used. The catalyst preferably contains molybdenum or tungsten compound. It is further preferred that this catalyst is also doped with a sulfur or phosphorus compound.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for simultaneous production of 6-aminocapronitrile and hexamethylenediamine from adipodinitrile, comprising the following steps: a) hydrogenating adipodinitrile in the presence of a catalyst containing an element of the VIII subgroup thereby obtaining a mixture containing 6-aminocapronitrile, hexamethylenediamine, adipodinitrile and high boilers; b) distillative separation of hexamethylenediamine from the mixture containing 6-aminocapronitrile, hexamethylenediamine, adipodinitrile and high boilers or c1) distillative separating 6-aminocapronitrile and subsequently d1) distillative separation of adipodinitrile or c2) simultaneous distillative separation of 6-aminocapronitrile and adipodinitrile into separate fractions. The invention is characterized in that temperatures in the bottoms of the column in steps d1) or c2) are under 185 DEG C. The adipodinitrile thus obtained contains less impurities than for instance 1-amino-2-cyanocyclopentenes.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing aliphatic alpha-omega amino nitriles in the presence of a catalyst composed of (a) iron or an iron based compound or a mixture thereof (b) 0.01 to 5 wt. %, in relation to (a), a promoter based on 2, 3, 4, or 5 elements selected from the group comprising aluminum, silicon, zirconium, titanium, and vanadium, and (C) to 0.5 wt. % in relation to (a) a compound based on an alkaline metal or alkaline-earth metal. The inventive method is characterized in that the aliphatic alpha-omega dinitrile contains 1.0 ppm or more phosphorus. Catalysts are obtainable through the reductive and optional successive passivation of magnetite, whereby the catalysts have a BET surface of 3 to 10 m2/g, a total pore volume of 0.05 to 0.2 ml/g, an average pore diameter of 0.03 to 0.1 mm and a pore volume portion in the range of 0.01 to 0.1 mm of 50 to 70%.

Abstract: Aliphatic alpha,omega-aminonitriles are prepared by partial hydrogenation of aliphatic alpha,omega-dinitriles at elevated temperatures and superatmospheric pressure in the presence of a solvent and of a catalyst by a process which comprises using a catalyst which (a) contains a compound based on a metal selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt, iron, ruthenium and rhodium and (b) contains from 0.01 to 25% by weight, based on (a), of a promoter based on a metal selected from the group consisting of palladium, platinum, iridium, osmium, copper, silver, gold, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, rhenium, zinc, cadmium, lead, aluminum, tin, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth and rare earth metals and (c) from 0 to 5% by weight, based on (a), of a compound based on an alkali metal or on an alkaline earth metal. with the proviso that the component (a) is not based on iron or iron and one of the metals selected from the group consisting of cobalt, ruthenium and rhodium when (b) is a promoter based on a metal selected from the group consisting of titanium, manganese, chromium and molybdenum, and with the further proviso that, when a compound based on only ruthenium or rhodium or ruthenium and rhodium or nickel and rhodium is selected as component (a), the promoter (b) may be dispensed with.
