Abstract: Preparation of a thermoplastic molding composition, comprises agglomerating a rubber latex using an agglomerating agent comprising a dispersion of polymer made from 80-100 wt.% 1-12C alkyl acrylates and 0-20 wt.% comonomers forming water-soluble polymers. The agglomerating agent is prepared by polymerizing the acrylate polymer dispersion in the presence of molecular weight regulator. Preparation of a thermoplastic molding compositions, comprises (a) polymerizing dienes and/or 1-12C alkyl acrylates, in aqueous emulsion, to give a rubber latex with a glass transition temperature of -10 degrees C. About 0-30 wt.% of the acrylate monomers may be replaced by other copolymerizable monomers, and 0-10 wt.% of the acrylate monomers may be replaced by crosslinking monomers; (b) agglomerating the latex by adding an agglomerating agent comprising a dispersion of a polymer from 80-100 wt.% 1-12C alkyl acrylates and 0-20 wt.% comonomers forming water-soluble polymers. 0-50 wt.% of these monomers may be replaced by other copolymerizable polymers; and (c) polymerizing in an aqueous emulsion (i) 10-90 parts by weight styrene, alpha -methylstyrene, (meth)acrylonitrile, 1-12C alkyl acrylate, and/or 1-6C alkyl methacrylate, where 30 wt.% may be replaced by other copolymerizable polymers; and (ii) 10-90 wt.% of the agglomerated latex to give a graft polymer. The agglomerating agent is prepared by polymerizing the acrylate polymer dispersion in the presence of molecular weight regulator (0.001-10 wt.%, based on the amount of polymer dispersion). An Independent claim is also included for a fiber, film, or a molding made from the obtained molding composition.

Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic moulding materials which essentially contain (A) 20 to 99 wt. % of at least one graft copolymer, (B) 1 to 80 wt. % of a copolymer that can be obtained from at least one alpha-olefin and at least one polar comonomer with the proviso that vinyl acetate or a vinylaromatic monomer should not be used as monomers and (C) 0 to 80 wt. % of a thermoplastic polymer that can be obtained by polymerisation of a monomer mixture which essentially consists of (c1) 50 to 100 wt. % of at least one vinylaromatic monomer and/or one C1-C8-alkyl ester of methacrylic acid or acrylic acid and (c2) 0 to 50 wt. % of at least one monofunctional comonomer and (D) 0.1 to 15 wt. % of a three-block polymer made of (d1) 5 to 90 wt. % of polyethylene glycol and (d2) 95 to 10 wt. % polypropylene oxide, with a central polypropylene oxide block having a molar weight of 800 to 5,000 g/mol and terminal blocks of polyethylene glycol, whereby the total sum of the components (A) to (D) amounts to 100 wt. %. The invention also relates to a method for producing the thermoplastic moulding materials and to the use thereof.

Abstract: The invention relates to thermoplastic molding materials essentially containing: (A) 20 to 99 weight percent of a graft polymer; (B) 1 to 80 weight percent of a copolymer obtained from at least one alpha olefin and at least one polar comonomer, provided that a vinylacetate or a vinyl aromatic monomer are not used as monomer; (C) 0 to 80 weight percent of a thermoplastic polymer obtained by polymerization of the monomeric mixture essentially consisting of (c1) 50 to 100 weight percent of at least one vinyl aromatic monomer and/or a C1-C8 alkylester of methacryilic or acrylic acid and (c2) 0 to 50 weight percent of at least one monofunctional comonomer, and (D) 0.1 to 20 weight percent of a substantially uncrosslinked, low-molecular weight polyalkylacrylate with a molar mass ranging from 300 to 25000 g/mol, wherein the total sum of components A to D total 100 weight percent. The invention also relates to a method for producing said thermoplastic molding materials and to the use thereof.

The shaped materials are preferably mixtures of polycarbonate, a graft polymer of stryrol and acrylonitrile on a butyl acrylate rubber (ASA) with a bimodal particle size distribution and a styrol-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN).
