SOLUTION: When facsimile terminal equipment connected to an opposite facsimile terminal equipment 107 via the Internet 109, when the facsimile terminal equipment 101 uses the T.37 protocol, the facsimile terminal equipment 101 is connected to a mail server 110 via an ISP access point 104, and when the facsimile terminal equipment 101 uses the T.38 protocol, the facsimile terminal equipment 101 is connected to an Internet facsimile gateway 105. The facsimile terminal equipment 101 uses the T.37 protocol in the memory transmission mode or uses the T.38 protocol in other transmission modes than the memory transmission mode to make transmission control to be connected to a final image reception station. In the registration processing of the access information to the opposite station, the facsimile terminal equipment 101 monitors an ANS/ ANSam signal returned from the opposite station to identify the opposite station and to revise the mode for the registration processing.

When the receiving capacity of the facsimile equipment of the opposite party is stored as the result of the discrimination, transmission by an electronic mail communication system based on the ITU recommendation T.37 is requested to a gateway (S4) and transmission corresponding to the stored receiving capacity of the facsimile equipment of the opposite party is performed. When it is discriminated that the equipment is not stored, transmission by a real time facsimile communication system based on the ITU recommendation T.37 is requested to the gateway (S6).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile system where the address of a facsimile transmission machine is recorded on the rear side of a received original outputted by a receiver side facsimile machine for the convenience of a user of the receiver side facsimile machine in the case that the user wishes to return the received original in the facsimile communications. SOLUTION: Whether the receiver of an opposite part has a double side recording function to record image information received by the receiver on both sides of a recording paper sheet is discriminated in the case of transmission (S202). When the receiver has the double side recording function, the transmitter facsimile machine designates the double side recording function to the receiver, transmits image information of one page of the original as image information to be recorded on the front side of the recording paper (S203), and then transmits image information of an address of the transmitter as image information to be recorded on the rear side of the recording paper (S204). Then the transmitter facsimile machine decides whether the transmission of all pages is finished (S205), and alternately transmits the image information of one page of the original and the image information of the address until the transmission of all the pages is finished.

Thus, the signal is sent in a timing without waste in response to a distance of a line and the procedure time is reduced and the full duplex communication is secured.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To automatically select a transmission line at high sampling rate even without calling the operator for an exchange from a user on the call originating side by transmitting a super-high speed modem identification signal and a super-high speed modem ability signal after call incoming. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 10 is switched to B side, a switch 14 is switched to C side and a modem 4 is connected to the transmission line, the super-high speed modem identification signal is transmitted from the modem 4 to show that a facsimile equipment (FAX) on the side to be called can be operated at the super-high speed modem rate. Next, the FAX on the call originating side starts a very high-speed modem ability signal detection timer. When the call originating side super-high speed modem ability signal (SHA) is detected at the modem 4, the SHA is transmitted from the side to be called. Thus, an exchange discriminates the SHA and possesses the transmission line at the high sampling rate. On the other hand, when the modem 4 can not detect any SHA within prescribed time, the ability on the reception side is reported by transmitting an initial identification signal.
