Abstract: A simplified method of manufacture for platinum (O) alkyne complexes is disclosed, as well as novel platinum (0) alkyne complexes per se. The complexes are made by reacting platinum-vinylsiloxane complexes with alkynes. The complexes are used in hydrosilylation, hydrogenation, isomerization and oligomerization reactions. Inhibition of cure at room temperature is combined with rapid cure at elevated temperature when the improved inhibitors are used.

Abstract: Skin care compositions having improved resistance to removal by water-exposure are provided by incorporating therein a nonvolatile siloxane having a viscosity of at least 30,000 centipoise. Emulsion compositions are prepared by emulsifying the siloxane in water and mixing the resulting emulsion with one or more skin care components. A volatile siloxane is preferably also incorporated into the skin care composition.
