    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide the apparatus for magnification observation with radiation having a high resolution. CONSTITUTION: The radiation emitted from a radiation source 20 is transmitted through a sample 27 and cast into a slant incident reflecting mirror 11. The incident radiation is magnified and the image is formed with the slant incident reflecting mirror 11. The image is impacted into a detecting means 21 and detected as the X ray image. A shielding plate 12 is arranged in approximately parallel with the surface at a position close to the emitting surface of the slant incident reflecting mirror 11. An opening 12a is provided at the region of a part of the surrounding part in the shielding plate 12. The X rays, which are reflected from a part of the reflecting surface of the slant incident reflecting mirror 11 passes the opening 12a and reaches the detecting means 21. Therefore, the part having the high machining accuracy among the reflecting surface of the slant incident reflecting mirror 11 is selectively used, and the X rays can be magnified and the image can be formed. The X-ray image having the high resolution can be detected with the detecting means 21.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a radiation image expanding/observing device easy to adjust the optical axis and capable of observing a sample with X-rays and other radioactive rays. CONSTITUTION:The visible light emitted from a visible light source 60 is changed in its optical path by the first optical path changing means 14 to be fed into the first oblique incidence reflecting mirror 11 on the same optical path as that of the X-rays emitted from an X-ray source 30. The visible light changed in its optical path passes through the first oblique incidence reflecting mirror 11, and it is further changed in its optical path by the second optical path changing means 17. The visible light proceeds toward the second detecting means 50, and the ring band-like visible light is detected by the second detecting means 50. When the position and inclination of the first oblique incidence reflecting mirror 11 are adjusted by optical axis adjusting means 11a, 11b while the shape of the visible light and the detecting position of the second detecting means 50 are visually observed, the optical axis of the first oblique incidence reflecting mirror 11 can be easily adjusted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a glass for the fiber plate with the reduced background noise which disturbs the measurement and image pickup by a photoelectron multiplying tube, etc. CONSTITUTION:Metallic lanthanum is obtained by removing almost the whole amt. of radioactive Ac as the impurity, and then the metallic lanthanum is irradiated with thermal neutron. Consequently, La as radioactive isotope contained as the impurity is disintegrated into La, and almost the whole amt. of the La in the metallic lanthanum is removed. The metallic lanthanum is used in the core 12 of a fiber plate 10 as the raw material. The fiber plate 10 is used for the photoelectron multiplying tube, etc., to reduce the background noise.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce largely degradation of image quality of a X-ray image by providing a rugged surface on an inner surface of a vacuum container. CONSTITUTION:A rugged part 35 of the grade of roughness which results in diffusing reflection and scattering of an X-ray is provided, on the inner surface of a vacuum container 32. As a result, most part of the X-rays reaching the inner surface of the vacuum container 32 after passing through an input face plate 31 is reflected diffusively and scattered, and probability of reaching a photoelectric surface 43 is reduced remarkably. Therefore, degradation of image quality can be suppressed.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To record or observe the image of a sample, which is illuminated with various range of monochromatic light, through a microscope optical system by irradiating the sample with light from a parametric oscillator including a nonlinear optical crystal which is excited by a laser light source to generate lights different in wavelength. CONSTITUTION:A nonlinear optical crystal 22 is arranged between reflective mirrors 21 and 23 in a parametric oscillator 2, and a signal wave omega1 and an idler wave omega2 are obtained when the pumping light having an angular frequency omega3 from a laser 1 is made incident on the parametric oscillator 2 through a lens 10. Either the signal wave omega1 or the idler wave omega2 is selected by a filter 3, and the light having the selected specific wavelength is irradiated on a sample through a reflective mirror 4. The image of the sample is magnified by an object lens of a microscope 6 and is picked up by a television camera 7 and is processed by a computer 8 and is displayed on a display device 9.
