O método inclui as etapas de fornecer uma pluralidade de transceptores ancoras de localização e uma pluralidade de transceptores ancoras de localização melhorada dentro de uma região, cada um da pluralidade de transceptores âncoras de localização e transceptores ancoras de localização melhorada operando a partir das respectivas localizações predeterminadas, um transceptor portátil dentro da região detectando e medindo um parâmetro de sinal de um sinal proveniente de pelo menos algum da pluralidade de transceptores âncoras de localização e transceptores âncoras de localização melhorada dentro da região, um motor de localização determinando uma localização do transceptor portátil baseado na medição do sinal do transceptor portátil e das respectivas predeterminadas localizações da pluralidade de transceptores âncoras de localização e transceptores âncoras de localização melhorada dentro da região, cada um da pluralidade de transceptores âncoras de localização melhorada detectando e medindo um parâmetro de sinal de um sinal proveniente de pelo menos algum da pluralidade de transceptores âncora de localização e outros transceptores âncoras de localização melhorada, o motor de localização recebendo os parâmetros de sinal medido provenientes de cada um da pluralidade de transceptores âncoras de localização melhorada, o motor de localização calculando uma localização estimada para cada um da pluralidade de transceptores âncora de localização melhorada a partir dos parâmetros de sinal medido e o motor de localização calculando um erro de localização para cada um da pluralidade de transceptores âncoras de localização melhorada com base na localização estimada e localização predeterminada do transceptor âncora de localização melhorada.

Abstract: A valve structure having a top part, a flexible media conveyance, such as a tube, a diaphragm and a bottom part with a support for the tube. The top surface of the diaphragm and the bottom surface of the top part may have electrodes attached. When there is no electric potential applied across the electrodes, the diaphragm may rest on and close the passageway in the flexible tube for effectively preventing a fluid flow. When an electrical potential is applied to the electrodes, the diaphragm may be pulled up off from the tube thereby opening or partially opening the passageway in the tube for a media flow or pressure transfer. Partial opening may be for modulation purposes. There may be a tension mechanism attached to the diaphragm. A controller may apply an electrical potential to the electrodes for at least partially opening or closing the valve.

Abstract: An actuator device controlling the shape of a flexible surface having a quasi-continuum in a plurality of locations. The device includes a plurality of individual cells arranged in an array for contact with the flexible surface. The cells comprise a cell body having an upper film portion and a lower film portion and an open central portion. The upper film portion is in contact with the flexible surface. A post is mounted in the open central portion and fixedly attached to the upper film portion and the lower film portion, the post defining a vertical axis of movement. The upper and lower film portions have electrodes mounted thereon respectively, positioned on the face of the upper and lower film portions and facing each other. A central diaphragm has electrodes on its outer surfaces and an open central portion surrounding the post A power supply operably connected to the electrodes for causing selective cooperative electrostatic activation between them to move the post along the vertical axis to cause the upper film portion to move that portion of the flexible surface in which the upper film portion is in contact. In a preferred embodiment, the cell body has a circular cross section so that the post moves vertically upward and downward to raise or lower the portion of the flexible surface in contact with the upper film portion upon application of electrostatic potential between the electrodes.
