PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-absorbing polymer particle where silicone is stably present on the surface of a water-absorbing polymer even in a formulation system of various preparations and which can impart a dry feeling on use even after absorbing water and is suitable, in particular, for a cosmetic composition. SOLUTION: The surface of the silicone denatured water-absorbing polymer particle is coated with a silicone compound having one or more functional groups by a chemical bonding.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic having excellent dispersion stability, an ultraviolet light protecting effect and an excellent sense of use without damaging hair. SOLUTION: This cosmetic comprises (A) a water-insoluble polymer particle which has a shell part comprising a hydrophilic polymer as a constituent component and a core part comprising a hydrophobic polymer as a constituent component, supports an ultraviolet light absorbent on the surface or in the inside of the particle and has 1-40 μm average particle diameter and (B) a cationic surfactant.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound which can simply release a functional component such as a perfume, a fragrance, an oil, a wax, a cold-sensing agent, a warm-sensing agent, an antibacterial agent or a sterilizer. SOLUTION: This compound comprises a functional component (I), hydrophobic polymer particles (II), and a water-soluble polymer (III). Therein, the hydrophobic polymer particles (II) encapsule the component (I), and at least one part of the hydrophobic polymer particles (II) are contained in the water-soluble polymer (III).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pasting agent free from the troubles of aggregation, separation and precipitation in storage and having excellent storage stability by carrying out emulsion polymerization of a vinyl acetate solution produced by adding a vinyl acetate oligomer to vinyl acetate monomer. SOLUTION: An emulsion-type pasting base agent composed of a vinyl acetate polymer is produced by the emulsion polymerization of a vinyl acetate solution produced by adding a vinyl acetate oligomer to vinyl acetate monomer at a ratio of 0.01-5 ppm, preferably 0.1-3 ppm and containing a nonionic surfactant such as polyoxyethylene alkyl ether as an emulsifier in the presence of a polymerization initiator such as 2,2'-azobis(2-amidinopropane) at 40-120 deg.C and pH 3-9.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collapsible particle collapsing in cleansing and rinsing process and affording a little skin inflammation and a cosmetic composition having remarkably excellent detergent and rinse out properties by including the same. SOLUTION: This collapsible particle comprises by cohesion of at least a part of mixtures of two or more kind of primary particles insoluble in water, and the cohesion of the collapsible particle is collapsed by the lowering of the concentration of water-soluble salt in the water-soluble salt including aqueous solution. The cosmetic composition includes 1 to 25 wt.% of the collapsible particles, >=1.0 wt.% of the water-soluble salts having concentration less than the saturated concentration, surfactants and water.

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polymer containing a specific side chain and having a new function while keeping excellent characteristics of polypropylene by copolymerizing a styrylated propylene polymer with a vinyl compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer having the side chain of formula II can be produced by polymerizing a polymer of formula I (R1 is H or 1-3C alkyl; R2 is H or halogen; n is 10-10,000; the relative position of the substituent on the benzene ring is o-, m- or p-) and a vinyl compound copolymerizable therewith preferably by radical polymerization.
