Abstract: This invention provides water-absorbing polymer particles suitable particularly for cosmetics, wherein silicone can be stably present on the surface of a water-absorbing polymer even in various formulations thereby giving dry feeling in use even after water absorption. The silicone-modified water-absorbing polymer particles of this invention comprises water-absorbing polymer particles coated thereon via chemical bonding, with a silicone compound having at least one functional group.

Abstract: An amphoteric porous particulate comprising a basic polysaccharide and a polymer of an organic acid containing a reactive vinyl group or a salt thereof and having an average particle size of 50 mu m or less, which is capable of adsorbing a large amount of an acid or a base that is stronger than the acid or basic groups thereof and which is useful as a deodorant, a cosmetic or the like. The amphoteric porous particulate is obtained by emulsifying or suspending an aqueous solution containing a basic polysaccharide and an organic acid having a reactive vinyl group in a hydrophobic solvent and thereafter effecting polymerization thereof. A deodorant comprising a chitosan particulate having an average particle size of 0.01 to 50 mu m as a deodorant. A chitosan particulate having an available amino group content of 1.0 x 10 to 1.0 x 10 mol/g and a specific surface area of 10 to 300 m /g is particularly useful. A polysiloxane having long-chain alkyl groups and a melting point of 20 DEG C or above is useful as an oil component of a deodorant.

Abstract: The present invention provides a polymer emulsion which contains polymer particles having an average particle size of not more than 30 mu m and having core-parts and shell-parts; which is composed of chitosan (a) and a polymer (b) of organic acids having a reactive vinyl group or a salt thereof, as constituent component of shell-part, and composed of a polymer (c) of hydrophobic monomers, as constituent component of core-part. Further, the present invention provides a coloring agent particle comprising a polymer particle in the above-mentioned polymer emulsion; and wherein a coloring material (k) is present in the shell-part and/or core-part. Furthermore, the present invention provides a deodorizing fiber wherein a polymer particle in the above-mentioned polymer emulsion is present on the surface of the fiber.

Abstract: The invention relates to disintegrating particles formed by agglomerating primary particles at least part of which are insoluble in water, wherein the agglomeration of the disintegrating particles is disintegrated in an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble salt by lowering the concentration of the water-soluble salt. The invention also relates to a cleanser or detergent composition that includes the disintegrating particles, a water-soluble salt at a concentration lower than its saturated solubility, a surfactant and water. The composition has excellent physical (mechanical) cleanability and stability with time and gives users a pleasant feeling upon use. The composition does not cause damage to and itch on the skin because the disintegrating particles are disintegrated during cleansing and rinsing, and it is extremely good in rinsability.
