Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a cosmetic, excellent in preservation stability and capable of imparting persistent humectant effects to the skin. CONSTITUTION: This cosmetic contains (A) a ceramide or its analogous substance, e.g. a ceramide of formula I (R and R are each a 10-26C straight-chain or branched chain saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group substitutive with one or more OH groups) or formula II (R is a 10-26C straight-chain or branched saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group) and (B) an oily base having ) with the component (A) calculated by a three-dimensional solubility parameter method, preferably an ester of a polyhydric alcohol with a fatty acid, especially octyldodecyl lactate or diisostearic acid diglycerol. The amounts of both the ingredients are within the range of preferably 0.1-50wt.%, especially 1-20wt.% ingredient (A) and preferably 0.1-70wt.%, especially 1-30wt.% ingredient (B). Cholesterol (derivative) or a fatty acid can be blended in the cosmetic to thereby further improve the humectant properties and feeling of use.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prepare a cosmetic having stable viscosity, high stability and excellent astringent action by adding zinc ion and a carboxylic acid or its salt having a specific chelate constant to a cosmetic containing a compound generating zinc ion and a viscosity modifier having ionizable group. CONSTITUTION:This cosmetic free from troubles of viscosity lowering, separation, creaming, etc., having high stability and exhibiting excellent astringent action is produced by simultaneously compounding (a) a compound generating zinc ion in aqueous solution (especially preferably a zinc salt) and (b) a viscosity modifier having ionizable group and adding (c) a carboxylic acid or its salt having a chelate constant with zinc ion of 1/10 to l/10 and (d) water to the composition. The compound (b) is preferably sodium polyacrylate, sodium carboxymethylcell-ulose or xanthan gum. The cosmetic is especially preferably an emulsion-type cosmetic. The cosmetic may further be compounded with a surfactant and an oily base.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an emulsified cosmetic, excellent in humectant effects and good in stability at high temperatures without any skin irritancy by using a specific amide derivative and an N-long-chain acylalkyltaurine salt as a surfac tant in combination. CONSTITUTION:An emulsified cosmetic containing an amide derivative expressed by formula I [R is 10-26C hydrocarbon; X is (CH2)n, (CH2CH2O)m, CH2CH2 or CH2CH(OH)-CH2 (n and m are 2-6)] and an N-long-chain acylalkyltaurine salt (e.g. stearoylmethyltaurine Na) expressed by formula II (R is 11-19C alkyl, alkenyl or hydroxyalkyl; R is 1-3C alkyl; M is alkali metal or organic amine) as a surfactant used in combination and further an oily substance such as dimethylpolysiloxane and water. The ingredients are preferably blended in the following amounts. 0.5-5wt.% amide derivative, 0.1-2wt.% N-long-chain acylalkyltaurine salt, 5-20wt.% oily substance and about >=50wt.% water.
