The cosmetic may further suitably be compounded with an oiling agent, a surfactant, a pH-adjusting agent, a ceramide compound, a pseudoceramide compound, a humectant, an alcohol, a chelating agent, an antiinflammatory agent, a UV light absorbent, a thickening agent, a pigment, a perfume, etc., and subsequently prepared into a water/oil type emulsion cosmetic, an oil/water type emulsion cosmetic, a cream, a milky lotion, a beauty water, an oily cosmetic, a pack agent, a lip stick, a foundation, a skin cleaner, etc. The cosmetic is excellent in a preventing effect and an improving effect on the wrinkles and further in a retaining effect on the moisture of skin and in preventing and improving skin roughness.

Molecular weight, 461; ultraviolet absorption spectrum, exhibits absorption peak at 270nm in methanol; solubility, easily soluble in chloroform, soluble in methanol and insoluble in n-hexane; color, white; etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a preservative which is high in rot-proof effect, superior in durability and does not generate rust on a pressure cooker, by containing specific quaternary ammonium salt as an effective ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The title preservative possesses quaternary ammonium salt shown by a formula as an inevitable ingredient. It is important that the quater nary ammonium salt possesses distinctive features to a counter ion and the counter ion X(-) is anion residue of acid having a hydrophobic group of the total carbon number of 7 or more. A 7 or more whole C sulfonic acid compound, carbonic acid compound, phosphate compound and sulfuric acid compound are mentioned as the acid like this. Then the quarternary ammonium solt as shown by the formula is formed easily by neutralizing the same with the sulfonic acid after the same is made into OH type quaternary ammonium by making use of, for example, ion exchanging resin beforehand. In the formula, at least one of R1-R3 is a 8-30C straight chain or branched chain alkyl group or alkenyl group, the remainder is either a single or combination to be selected out off CH3, CH2CH3, R4 is either CH2 or CH2CH3 and the counter ion X(-) is the anion residue of the acid having the 7 or more whole C hydropholic group.
