Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a safe skin cosmetic, excellent in improving effects on skin roughening, especially roughening of fatty skin and capable of conditioning the texture of the skin by combining a specific carboxylic acid with an amide derivative for use. CONSTITUTION: This skin cosmetic contains a compound selected from a carboxylic acid of formula 1 [R is a 1-8C straight-chain or branched chain alkyl substituted with one or more hydroxyl groups; (n) is 1-18] having 6-20 carbon atoms in total, its salt, an ester derivative and an amide derivative and an amide derivative of formula 2 [R is a 10-26C straight-chain or branched chain saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon; R is a 9-25C straight-chain or branched chain saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon; Y and Z are each H or (CH2 )n -OH [(n) is 1-3]; A is a single bond or O-CH2 (0 is bound to R )]. The compound of formula 2 is obtained by acylating a compound of formula 5 prepared from a glycidyl ether of formula 3 and an alkanolamine of formula 4 and then selectively hydrolyzing the ester group.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate how much a relaxation state of the skin is improved when beauty treatment is applied to the skin by means of a massage or skincare. SOLUTION: The effect of the beauty treatment using a massage or skincare is evaluated with a rate of change in skin bloodstream when the skin surface is cooled down or heated as an index. Furthermore, the keratotic plugs can effectively be removed by employing a keratoric removing agent containing a polymeric compound having salt-forming groups such as carboxyl group, sulfonate group, sulfate group, phosphate residue, nitrate residue, amino group or ammonium group.
