Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new aralkyl resin consisting of a specific structural unit, and useful for a photosensitive resin composition suitable for a semiconductor device having a high sensitivity and a high resolution, and excellent in fine processability, and for an epoxy resin curing agent excellent in heat resisting and water proof properties. SOLUTION: This aralkyl resin consists of the chemical structure of formula I A is a group of formula II [R1 to R5 are a halogen, a (substituted) and (branched) alkyl, a (substituted) and (branched) alkenyl or OH]; (m) is 1 to 100} and this resin is obtained by performing a condensation reaction of (A) a compound of formula III with (B) a compound of the formula: XCH2 -Ph-CH2 X (Ph is phenylene; X is a 1-4C alkoxy, OH or a halogen) at 0.1-1.0 molar ratio of B/A.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an aralkyl resin useful as e.g. a photopolymer excellent in sensitivity and resolution or a curing agent for giving a cured epoxy resin excellent in flexibility, heat resistance and water resistance by using an aralkyl resin having a specified structure. CONSTITUTION: This aralkyl resin is represented by formula I (wherein R is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy, nitro or a halogen; m is 1-3; and n is 0-100). This resin is obtained by reacting 1mol of a spiroindanol represented by formula II with 0.1-1.0mol of an aralkyl compound represented by formula III (wherein X is a 1-4 C alkoxyl, hydroxy or a halogen). The reaction is carried out in the absence of any catalyst or in the presence of an acid catalyst. 1-100wt.% of the total alkali-solubles of this resin is mixed with a photosensitive component to obtain a photopolymer composition.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a resin as a developer and an antifungus and mildewproofing agent by treating a hydroxycarboxylic acid resin obtd. by a reaction of a hydroxycarboxylic acid and an aralkyl compd. with water to remove the unreacted hydroxycarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION: 1mol hydroxycarboxylic acid of the formula I is reacted with 0.05-0.95mol aralkyl compd. of the formula II to prepare a hydroxycarboxylic acid resin compsn. of the formula III (wherein A is phenyl or naphthyl; X is 1-4C alkoxy, hydroxy, or halogen; and n is 0 to 10), which is treated with water (pH: at least 4) to remove the unreacted hydroxycarboxylic acid to obtain a high-purity hydroxycarboxylic acid resin, which is purified pref. with a water- insoluble org. solvent (pentanol, cyclohexanone, benzene, etc.). Sepcific examples of the compd. of the formula I include salicylic acid, while specific examples of the compd. of the formula II include dichloroxylene and dibutoxyxylene.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound in high purity and yield useful as a raw material of a heat-resistant resin, its intermediate material, etc., by con densing 1,3,5-trihalogenobenzene, which is widely used as a raw material of an agricultural and pharmaceutical agent, a solvent, etc., with 3-aminophenol. CONSTITUTION:This 1,3,5-tris(3-aminophenoxy)benzene derivative is obtained by reacting a 1,3,5-trihalogenobenzene derivative of formula I [X1 to X3 are each a halogen; R is a l-10C alkoxy; (n)=0-3] with a 3-aminophenol derivative of formula II [R is a 1-10C alkyl or a 1-20C alkoxy; (m)=O-41 in the presence of a dehydrohalogenation agent in an aprotic polar solvent. The reaction is preferably carried out at >=200 deg.C. In this reaction, the objective compound is obtained in one step and in high yield. The dehydrohalogenation agent used here is sea-ected from KOH, NaOH, sodium methoxide, etc. Further, the reaction solvent is selected from N-methylformamide, sulfolane, N-methylpyrrolidone, etc.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive material having excellent stability against plate wear and ozone stability by incorporating a specified compsn. as a charge transfer material. CONSTITUTION:A charge transfer material expressed by formula I is incorporated into the photosensitive layer. In formula I, Ar, Ar' are independently unsubstd. or substd. aryl groups, R -R are independently hydrogen, alkyl groups, etc., and Y is oxygen or sulfur. Namely, the charge transfer material, which is 4-diaryl-amino-2-phenylbenzoxazole or 4'-diarylamino-2-phenylbenzothiazole deriv., is incorporated into the photosensitive layer. Thus, the obtd. electrophotographic sensitive material has high sensitivity, excellent resistance to plate wear and ozone stability, and small variation of potential in bright area and dark area.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the photosensitive body having a high sensitivity and less residual potential by adding sodium acetate to a charge generating layer contg. an azo compd. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum, copper, etc., are used as a base 1 and the fine particles of he azo compd. and the sodium acetate are dispersed into a soln. dissolved with a binder. This soln. is applied on the base 1 and is dried, by which the charge generating layer 2 is obtd. A soln. dissolved with a charge transfer material and a binder is applied thereon and is dried, by which a charge transfer layer 3 is produced. Polystyrene, polacrylamide, etc., are used as the binder. The thickness of the layer 2 is preferably 0.01 to 5mum and the thickness of the layer 3 is preferably 3 to 50mum. The ratio of the azo compd. in the layer 2 is specified to >=30wt.T and the amt. of the sodium acetate to be used is specified to 5 to 1000 pts. wt. per 10000 pts. wt. azo compd. The charge transfer material is incorporated at 10 to 95wt.% into the layer 3. Since the sodium acetate is added into the charge generating layer, the sensitivity is greatly improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain fast recording having sufficient color density by incorporating at least one or more kind of a dye component selected from a specific dye group. CONSTITUTION:A dye represented by general formula (I) is obtained by reacting specific pyrroles with 1.0 - 1.5mol. of tetracyanoethylene at 40 - 80 deg.C, for exam ple, in a polar solvent such as dimethylformamide. Thermal transfer recording ink is prepared by mixing this dye with a proper resin and a proper solvent. The amount of the dye in the thermal transfer recording ink in this case is usually 2 - 5wt.%. Since the dye represented by the general formula I has a sharp yellow color, it is suitable for obtaining a full color in combination with a magenta dye and a cyan dye. In this case, since the solubility of the dye component having this yellow color to the resin and solvent used at the time of the preparation of a transfer sheet can be enhanced according to circumstances by mixing other dye with the dye component, other yellow dye other than this dye may be mixed, if necessary.
