    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce 3,9-dibromobenzanthrone useful as a synthetic intermediate for a dye, etc., in a process capable of separating it without needing a recovery process for bromine at high yield and high quality by reacting benzanthrone with bromine in sulfuric acid in the presence of nitrosylsulfuric acid. SOLUTION: A compound of formula II is produced by reacting (C) benzanthrone of formula I with (D) bromine in (A) sulfuric acid in the presence of (B) nitrosylsulfuric acid. Further, it is preferable that the component B and the component D are used at molar ratios of 0.01-5.0 and 0.9-3.0 against the component C, respectively. Concretely, for instance, sodium nitrite is added to 98% sulfuric acid to prepare the component B in the component A; the component C is added to the mixture; the temperature is elevated up to 10-80 deg.C, especially 40-60 deg.C and the component D is added dropwise; further, the reaction mixture is stirred for a specified time at 20-100 deg.C, especially 50-90 deg.C; water is discharged from the reaction mixture after degassing, and a solid is filtered and washed with water.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a transfer sheet having a high sublimation rate and excellent in image stability after transfer by using an ink compsn. prepared by compounding coloring matter for thermal transfer recording represented by a specific general formula, a binder resin and a solvent. CONSTITUTION:An ink compsn. for thermal transfer recording is prepared by compounding yellow coloring matter for thermal transfer recording represented by formula (R is a 3-8C branched or cyclic substituted or non- substituted alkyl group and R is a 5-10C branched or cyclic substituted or non-substituted alkoxyalkyl group), a binder resin and an org. solvent and/or water. This ink compsn. is applied to the single surface of a base material sheet and dried to form a coloring matter support layer to obtain a transfer sheet. When thermal transfer recording is performed, the transfer sheet is superposed on a material to be recorded and heated and pressed according to a recording pattern from the back surface of the transfer sheet by a thermal recording head to transfer the coloring matter on the transfer sheet to the material to be recorded.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain quinophthalonedicarboxylic acid having high purity and useful as an intermediate for pigment, etc., by hydrolyzing and neutralizing a specific quinophthalonedicarboxylic acid anhydride with an alkaline compound to obtain a solubilized product, removing insoluble impurities by filtration and adding an acid to precipitate the free acid. CONSTITUTION:This quinophthalonedicarboxylic acid having high purity and expressed by the formula III can be produced by adding an aqueous solution of an alkaline compound (e.g. sodium hydroxide) to a quinophthalonedicarboxylic acid anhydride expressed by the formula I (X is H, halogen or alkyl), heating the liquid mixture to 50 deg.C after confirming the adjustment of pH to 12.9, stirring for 2hr at 50-52 deg.C to effect the hydrolysis and neutralization of the compound and form a solubilized quinophthalone compound salt expressed by the formula II (Y and Z are cation), removing insoluble impurities from the product by filtration, adding an acid (e.g. sulfuric acid) to adjust the pH to 1.95, heating at 90 deg.C, keeping at the temperature for 2hr, adding water to precipitate crystals, collecting the crystal by filtration and drying the product.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a near-infrared absorbing film improved in heat rays shielding effect and light resistance by incorporating a specific phthalocyanine compd. into a polyalkyl acrylate resin. CONSTITUTION:A polyalkyl acrylate resin is blended with a phthalocyanine compd. of the formula [wherein A to A are each H, halogen, (un)substd. alkyl, or (un)substd. alkoxy, provided that each of the pairs of A and A , A and A , A and A , and A and A is not simultaneously H; B to B are respective H, halogen, (un)substd. alkyl, (un)substd. alkoxy, (un)substd. aryloxy, or (un) substd. arylthio; and M is a bivalent metal atom, a trivalent or tetravelent substd. metal atom, or oxymetal]. The resulting mixture is heat-melted at 150 to 300 deg.C, and then formed into a film to obtain a master roll. The master roll film is monoaxially or biaxially oriented 2- to 5-fold at 60 to 90 deg.C to obtain a near-infrared absorbing film having a thickness of 10 to 200mum and a phthalocyanine compd. content of 1 to 10,000mg/m .
