Abstract: A method for introducing gas into a liquid wherein a gas stream is ejected from a lance spaced above the liquid surface and directed from the lance onto the liquid surface. The gas retains substantially all its original jet axis velocity when it contacts the liquid surface, and substantially all of the gas penetrates the liquid surface and is introduced into the liquid. Preferably the gas stream is surrounded by a flame envelope running from the lance to the liquid surface, which shields the gas from ambient gas entrainment. The gas stream preferably forms a gas cavity within the liquid having a diameter substantially the same as the diameter of the gas stream as it is ejected from the lance.

Abstract: This is a method for injecting gas to liquids. In this method, a sprinkler placed over the surface of the liquid is used to sprinkle gas to the surface of the liquid. This gas, when touching the liquid surface conserves mainly the first sprinkle axis speed and a substantial part of the gas passes through the liquid surface and diffuses in the liquid. The gas flow is preferentially surrounded by a fire envelope and this fire envelope protects the said gas flow from the other gases in the fire envelope environment. The gas flow creates in the liquid a gas groove, the diameter of which is equal of the diameter of the gas at the moment it is thrown away from the sprinkler.

Abstract: Our invention is a method for efficiently giving the main gas to a melted metal pool, particularly useful for use in an electrical arc oven. In this method, the main gas is burned with a secondary oxygen fuel in order to create a fire cover that prevents the main gas to carry the gases in the environment when passing through the headroom of the oven. This allows the gas to keep most of its original power after its injection to the headroom. That way the gas can be injected in a secure distance from the surface of the melted metal and a complete infusion to the melted metal is ensured.
