Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which can effectively supply both a coherent gas jet and a turbulent gas jet, both of which are proximate to each other, into an injection volume. SOLUTION: This system which supplies a gas into the injection volume in the form of one or a plurality of coherent gas jets which are close to one or a plurality of turbulent gas jets forms the coherent gas jets in a mold by using a frame envelope before the coherent gas jets are passed to the injection volume to which the turbulent gas jets are directly passed.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a multiplex coherent gas jet with a simple lance by feeding out fuel and oxidizer from the end part of a lance, burning, forming a flame envelope surrounding plural gas jets and individually holding the flow of each gas jet over this longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: The gas is jetted from each outlet opening hole 5 in plural nozzles 3 arranged in the lance 1. A first annular jetting means 8 on an acting surface at the end part 2 of the lance 1 is formed as a ring encircling the outlet opening holes 5 of plural nozzles 3 and a second annular jetting means 9 is formed as a ring by encircling the first annular jetting means 8. The fuel and the oxidizer exhausted from those two annular means are burnt to form the envelope surrounding plural gas jets. A space 11 formed with an outer extending part 10 forms a protecting zone which immediately protects at the flow-out time of the oxidizer from the end part 2 and works in assistant to obtain the coherency to each gas jet.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, in which gas from plural gas flows can be passed through over the long distance from these supplying devices. SOLUTION: This system is the one for forming single coherent gas jet from plural initial gas jets injected from a single lance. The initial gas jet itself is the coherent and angled inward and surrounded by a flame. The initial coherent gas jets merge to form the single coherent gas jet, and the gases of the initial gas jets do not substantially interact within the single coherent gas jet over the whole length of the resulting single coherent gas jet.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to effectively introduce gases into a liquid pool while averting the drastic damage to a gas injector induced by the contact of molten metal, etc., with the liquid pool by forming a flame enclosure formed by burning fuel and oxidant to the circumference of the main gaseous flow emerging from a central main orifice. SOLUTION: A lance 1 is constituted by concentrically providing the lance with a central conduit 2 and first and second annular passages 3, 4. The main orifice terminating at the injection end 5 of the lance 1 is formed at the central conduit 2. Orifices 7, 8 terminating at the injection end 5 are formed in the respective annular passages 3, 4 as well and are formed as a hole group arrayed to constitute a circle encircling the main orifice. A main gaseous source is passed to the central conduit 2 and a fuel source is passed to the first annular passage 3 and an oxygen source to the second annular passage 4, respectively. The flame enclosure 33 formed by mixing and burning the fuel and oxidant is formed around the main gaseous flow 30 emerging from the main orifice, by which the introduction of the gases into the liquid, such as molten metal, is made possible.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the length of a coagulated jet can be changed without changing the facility nor the flow rate of the gas constituting the jet. SOLUTION: In a method for changing length of coagulated jet, a coagulated jet is established by using a flame surrounding material generated by using gaseous fuel and the length of the jet is changed by changing the flow rate of the fuel. Desirably, the total flow rate of the fuel and an inert gas for makeup is fixed by using the inert gas. This method includes a step of establishing a coagulated jet having a first length by forming the flame surrounding material coaxially with the flow of a main gas, by combusting the gaseous fuel and an oxidizing material by supplying the main gas in a main gas flow at a main gas flow rate and the gaseous fuel at a first gaseous fuel flow rate, and another step of establishing another coagulated jet having a second length which is different from the first length by forming the flame surrounding material coaxially with the flow of the main gas, by combusting the gaseous fuel and oxidizing material by supplying the main gas in the main gas flow at the main gas flow rate and the gaseous fuel at a second gaseous fuel flow rate which is different from the first flow rate.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the speed and the coherency of gas jet regardless of oxidizing gas or inert gas by burning fuel together with at least one of a first oxidant and a second oxidant and forming a flame envelope around the main gas stream. SOLUTION: At the time of jetting the fuel into an jetting space 6, the fuel is mixed with at least one, desirably both of the first and the second oxidants to form the flame envelope 11 around the main gas stream 12. The flame envelope 11 is made to have slower speed than the main gas stream 12. The triple- layer flame envelope 11 surrounding the main gas stream 12 having the ultrasonic speed from the first point jetted from a tapered/divergent nozzle 3, keeps the main gas stream 12 over the proper distance from the nozzle (ordinary, about 20-100 times as long as the nozzle outer diameter) in the coherent state. That is, the speed loss and the expansion in the radial direction of the main gas stream 12 are scarcely developed and the ultrasonic speed is maintained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a reaction having high selectivity and conversion by providing a source of a 1st gaseous reactant having a specific temp., a mixing chamber, where the reaction does not occur, and a reaction zone, where suffers the gas phase reaction in a reaction device, in the case of forming a uniform gaseous reactant mixture by reacting the 1st gaseous reactant with a 2nd gaseous reactant in the reaction device. SOLUTION: The 1st component in the reaction device is the source of the hot gaseous reactant (reactant A) having a temp. higher than 500 deg.C. The reactant A is injected to a mixing chamber of the reaction device as expansion jet. The expansion jet can be formed by providing an adjuster (such as a flow nozzle) between the hot gas source and the mixing chamber. The 2nd gaseous reactant (reactant B) in one of a gaseous state and a super critical state is injected near a place, where the reactant A is injected. In the mixing chamber, the reactant A and the reactant B does not react with each other substantially, though rapidly mix with each other. Next, the mixture of the reactant A with the reactant B is subjected to gas phase reaction in the reaction zone.

There is further provided an apparatus for forming a coherent gas jet comprising: a main gas nozzle capable of injecting the main gas with a high speed to form a main gas jet having a central axis, means for forming a flame envelope around the main gas jet, and means for directing the flame envelope to the main gas jet.
