    Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate transmitting access point types and/or restricted association parameters using broadcast signals, such as beacons, pilot signals, etc. The type or restricted association information can be indicated by one or more intrinsic aspects of the signal, such as specified parameters. In addition, the type or information can be indicated by one or more extrinsic signal aspects, such as frequency, interval, periodicity, etc. Using this information, a mobile device can determine whether an access point implements restricted association. If so, the mobile device can request an access point or related group identifier before determining whether to establish connection therewith. The identifier can be verified against a list of accessible access points and/or groups to make the determination.     Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that provide support for signal acquisition in wireless communication systems that utilize half-duplex communication in the presence of asynchronous sectors. Forward link and reverse link superframes can be structured such that a given frame position in a superframe alternates between forward link communication and reverse link communication for a particular half-duplex interlace. More particularly, an odd number of frames can be grouped into respective forward link and reverse link superframes, from which frames can be assigned to a first half-duplex interlace and a second half-duplex interlace in an alternating fashion. By varying the communication link used by a half-duplex interlace at a given frame location, terminals operating on a single half-duplex interlace can detect asynchronously operating sectors irrespective of the transmission timeline of such sectors.

    Abstract: Techniques for supporting efficient operation by terminals in a wireless communication system are described. A base station transmits a preamble periodically in each superframe. The preamble includes at least one first OFDM symbol for control information followed by at least one second OFDM symbol for paging information. A terminal receives the first and second OFDM symbols and determines a receiver gain based on the received power of the first OFDM symbol(s), e.g., with an AGC loop having a shorter time constant than the duration of the first OFDM symbol(s). The terminal processes the second OFDM symbol(s) based on the receiver gain to obtain the paging information. The terminal may operate in an idle state, determine superframes assigned to the terminal, sleep between the assigned superframes, and process the first and second OFDM symbols in each assigned superframe to obtain the paging information.

    Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate cycling across antennas for channel quality information (CQI) computation and data transmission in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communication environment. Pilots can be obtained by a wireless terminal. Further, virtual antennas that can be supported by a channel can be identified based upon an analysis of the pilots. Moreover, CQI computations can be effectuated for each of the supported virtual antennas; thereafter, the CQI data can be sent to a base station for data transmission scheduling. Additionally, the base station can schedule transmission based upon the CQI data and/or fairness considerations. When scheduled, data transmission can occur by cycling across the supported virtual antennas.
