    Abstract: The disclosure relates to reverse link lower layer assisted video error control. A method may encode video data, form a packet with the encoded video data, and transmit the packet across a wireless channel to an access network. A medium access control (MAC) layer may receive a negative acknowledgement (NAK) from the access network. The method may determine whether the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data. If the received NAK is associated with a packet that contains video data, the method may perform error control.

    Abstract: In a wireless communications system, a serving base station performs outer and closed power control for an overhead channel and a traffic channel for data, either of which can carry an acknowledgement (Ack) channel and Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) channel on an uplink from User Equipment (UE). In an exemplary aspect, data packet communication is implemented in 3GPP LTE Rel. 8 wherein the uplink has a Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiplex (SC-FDM) uplink waveform. The UE performs open loop power control by a determining transmit power spectral density value by using received energy per symbol for a reference signal.

    Abstract: Reverse Link (RL) data rate allocation in a High Data Rate (such as 1xEV-DO) system as a function of Forward Link (FL) channel quality. Rate shaping of a throughput profile for multiple Access Terminals (ATs) is performed by adjusting transition probabilities associated with a data rate allocation algorithm. The RL maximum data rate per AT is adjusted to reduce the loading in a designated area and result in rate shaping of the cell and/or sector. In one embodiment, the maximum data rates are adjusted as a function of the FL Signal to Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR), such as measured per serving sector or as a captured sum total of FL SINR. In still another embodiment, the maximum data rates are adjusted as a function of differences in riseover-thermal values between neighboring sectors.

    Abstract: In a particular embodiment, a method is disclosed that includes receiving a feedback message at a transmitter, the feedback message including an indication of a magnitude of congestion and a sustainable rate of data transmission at a receiver. The method also includes determining a decongestion rate and a decongestion time based on at least one of the sustainable rate of data transmission and the magnitude of congestion when the magnitude of congestion satisfies a threshold value. The method further includes sending data at the decongestion rate from the transmitter to the receiver for the decongestion time. The method also includes adjusting a data transmission rate at the transmitter to the sustainable rate of data transmission after the decongestion time is ended.
