Abstract: A rate adaptive transmission scheme for MIMO systems, which can transmit a variable number of data symbol streams, provide transmit diversity for each data symbol stream, and fully utilize the total transmit power of the system and the full power of each antenna. In one method, at least one data symbol stream is received for transmission from a plurality of antennas. Each data symbol stream is scaled with a respective weight corresponding to the amount of transmit power allocated to that stream. The scaled data symbol stream(s) are multiplied with a transmit basis matrix to provide a plurality of transmit symbol streams for the plurality of antennas. The transmit basis matrix (e.g., a Walsh-Hadamard matrix or a DFT matrix) is defined such that each data symbol stream is transmitted from all antennas and each transmit symbol stream is transmitted at (or near) the full power for the associated antenna.

Abstract: Techniques to determine a set of rates for a set of data streams to be transmitted in a multi-channel communication system. A group of transmission channels to be used for each data stream is initially identified. An equivalent system for each group is then defined to have an AWGN (or flat) channel and a spectral efficiency equal to the average spectral efficiency of the transmission channels in the group (216). A metric for each group is then derived based on the associated equivalent system, e.g., set to the SNR needed by the equivalent system to support the average spectral efficiency (218). A rate for each data stream is then determined based on the metric associated with the data stream. The rate is deemed to be supported by the communication system if the SNR required to support the data rate by the communication system is less than or equal to the metric (226).

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to communications with narrowband wireless communication devices over a wide frequency band are provided. A first wireless communication device transmits a first configuration indicating a first set of channel monitoring occasions for a first channel and a second set of channel monitoring occasions for a second channel. The first wireless communication device transmits, in the first channel based on at least a listen- before-talk (LBT) in the first channel, a first occupancy indication signal indicating a first transmission opportunity (TXOP) in the first channel. The first wireless communication device transmits, in the first channel based on the first configuration, a second occupancy indication signal associated with the first TXOP in the first channel during a channel monitoring occasion of the first set of channel monitoring occasions within the first TXOP.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for selecting a time division duplexing (TDD) frame structure for communicating with a user equipment (UE) via a shared radio frequency spectrum in which a listen before talk (LBT) procedure is performed prior to transmitting. A frame based equipment (FBE) frame starting location for FBE frames is determined where the FBE frame starting location is offset from a starting location of the TDD frame structure and spans successive TDD frames. In some cases, the TDD frame structure may be configured such that the UE does not need to perform an LBT procedure, and thus the LBT process may be transparent to the UE, allowing UEs that are not specially configured to operate using an LBT procedure to use the shared radio frequency spectrum.

Abstract: Cell acquisition is disclosed in frequency diversity configured for frame based equipment (FBE) access, such as using opportunistic frequency switching. A user equipment (UE) begins cell acquisition by synchronizing to an available communication channel of an available cell in response to detection of a synchronization signal block (SSB) associated with a network on which the UE communicates. The UE receives system information associated with the available cell from a serving base station, wherein the system information includes identification of at least: a link indicator identifying linked communication channels available for opportunistic switching, sensing occasion offsets for each of the linked channels, and access information associated with each of the linked channels. The UE measures a channel quality for each available channel. The base station transmits this system information on each of the linked channels and then monitors the allocated random access resources for signals from the UEs.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a mechanism for improving reliability in a wireless communication network supporting a multi-cell transmission environment including a primary cell (PCell) and one or more secondary cells (SCells). In some examples, a user equipment (UE) in a connected mode with a PCell for multi-cell communication with the PCell and one or more SCells may utilize link quality measurements on both the PCell and one or more SCells to manage the connection with the PCell. Abstract: Scheduling around frame based equipment (FBE) idle periods reduces the flexibility of scheduling and partitioning. This leads to a latency caused by waiting for the next downlink scheduling opportunity and skipping over unused uplink scheduling slots. According to certain aspects, to reduce overhead caused by idle time and ensure full downlink scheduling, a base station (BS) alternates between idle periods and channel occupancy time every fixed frame period with one or more other synchronized BSs, between components carriers of the BS, or both. Thus, a BS can always schedule downlink on a carrier during an idle period scheduled for a different BS and/or a different carrier.

The shared access is configured for at least a downlink control information communication. Abstract: Aligned listen before talk (LBT) gaps for single operator frame-based equipment (FBE) mode new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) is disclosed. Within the FBE mode network, the base station determines a plurality of potential transmission bursts within a fixed frame period. The base station may then reserve a plurality of LBT gaps prior to the starting position of each such transmission burst. The base station communicates the location of each of the LBT gaps to all neighboring network entities and contends for access to the fixed frame period at the beginning of the frame regardless of whether it has data for transmission during the frame. Each neighboring base station that receives the LBT gaps locations will use the same locations in order to align the LBT gaps over the FBE mode network.

Abstract: Various aspects related to ACK/NACK feedback for multi-TRP transmission scenarios are described. A base station, may send, to a UE, information indicating PDCCH monitoring occasions for each of a plurality of TRPs. In one aspect, the base station may send information indicating whether ACK/NACK feedback across the plurality of TRPs is allowed. The base station may send rules to the UE for performing ACK/NACK feedback bundling for providing feedback to the plurality of TRPs. The base station may also send information indicating a DAI definition for interpreting DAIs transmitted by the plurality of TRPs in corresponding PDCCH transmissions indicating whether the DAIs are independent or joint. The base station may receive a joint ACK/NACK feedback from the UE in a PUCCH based on the rules, or may receive multiple ACK/NACK feedback from the UE in a PUCCH for a first TRP independent from a second TRP.
