Abstract: 811,936. Colour television tubes. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Aug. 12, 1955 [Aug. 18, 1954], No. 23348/56. Class 39(1). The apertured mask of a colour tube is supported at its edge by mounting means which upon expansion or contraction of the mask cause the latter to move towards or away from the screen and maintain temperature compensated alignment of the apertures. In one example, Fig. 3, the mask 7 is supported on a frame 17 by links 15 which comprise nickel chrome alloy strips bent and shaped as shown, and with slots formed at 15e, 15d and reinforcing embossing at 156. The surface 15b is substantially normal to the line y-y joining it to the centre of deflection of the tube. Expansion of the mask swings the hinge to move the mask closer to the target and maintain alignment of the mask apertures with the screen areas. In modifications, the mounting may be an open work sheet giving links with enlarged middle portions, Fig. 4, (not shown) or reinforced uniform links, Fig. 6, (not shown), or just an imperforate border formed with radial embossments, Fig. 8, (not shown).
