    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst used in the production of a cycloolefin/acetylene copolymer useful as a material for a gas separation membrane such as an oxygen enriching membrane by using a specified tungsten complex as an effective component. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst used for the copolymerization of a cycloolefin with an acetylene comprises a tungsten complex represented by the formula (wherein A is an alkali metal cation, an ammonium cation or a phosphonium cation) or a combination thereof with a hydrosilane. This catalyst is stable, highly active and easily handleable. By using this catalyst, a copolymer having a composition corresponding to the composition ratio between the charged comonomers can be synthesized even in the copolymerization of a cycloolefin with an acetylene by which the production of a copolymer of a controlled compositionn is conventionally impossible, and a polymer of an acetylene can be used in the copolymerization. The synthesized cycloolefin/acetylene copolymer has excellent properties as a material for a gas separation membrane such as an oxygen enriching membrane.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a fluorocopolymer useful as a water-repellent polymer or a main chain type high-molecular liquid crystal polymer by reacting a specified fluoroalkyl halide with an organic halide and metallic magnesium in the presence of a metal catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A fluoroalkyl halide of formula I (wherein X is I or Br; R is H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, an aromatic group, provided that two Rs may be suitably combined with each other to form a ring together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded; and n is 1-20) is reacted with an organic halide of formula II (wherein Y is I, Br or Cl; and R' is an aromatic group of an atomic group composed of a plurality of aromatic groups bonded with each other directly or through bonding groups) and metallic magnesium to obtain a fluorocopolymer comprising repeating units of formula III (wherein R and n are each as defined above). This copolymer shows excellent water repellency and has liquid crystal properties over a wide range of temperature.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance useful as a synthetic intermediate for drugs, agricultural chemicals, water repellent, oil repellent, etc., from reagents having low toxicity under a mild condition by reacting a halogen compound with a perfluoroalkylsilane in the presence of a copper salt and a fluoride ion source. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by formula I (R is aromatic group, aralkyl or alkenyl group which may contain substituent group; X is I or Br) subjected to a reaction with a compound shown by formula II ((n) is 1-10; R to R are alkyl) in the presence of a copper salt and a fluoride ion source at 50-90 deg.C to give a compound shown by formula III. Cuprous iodide, cuprous bromide, cuprous chloride or cuprous cyanide may be cited as the copper salt and LiF, NaF, KF, CsF or tetrabutylammonium fluoride as the fluoride ion source. The amounts of the copper salt and the fluoride ion source are preferably 1 equivalent or excessive amount, respectively. The reaction is preferably carried out in an aprotic polar solvent such as THF or DMF.
