Abstract: An electrochemical cell is provided, including an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte therebetween. The anode contains magnesium in a reduced state, and the cathode includes a rutile structure. The rutile structure is capable of intercalating magnesium ions received from the anode to produce a low voltage. The electrochemical cell is rechargeable. Additionally, the electrochemical cell is cheaper, more environmentally friendly and has a higher volume density than related art electrochemical cells. A method of manufacture is also provided.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a fuel cell which utilizes the biogenic metabolism to produce a high current density. It generates electric power in such a way that the fuel is decomposed stepwise by a plurality of enzymes and those electrons formed by oxidation are transferred to the electrode. The enzymes work such that the enzyme activity of the enzyme involved in decomposition in the early stage is smaller than the sum of the enzyme activities of the enzymes involved in decomposition in the later stage. In the case where a coenzyme is involved, the enzyme activity of the oxidase that oxidizes the coenzyme is greater than the sum of the enzyme activities of the enzymes involved in the formation of the reductant of the coenzyme, out of the enzymes involved in the stepwise decomposition of the fuel.

Abstract: It is an object to quickly disperse heat generated when short circuit occurs between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. Abstract: Se proporciona una bateria secundaria de electrolito solido que comprende un electrodo positivo, un electrodo negativo y un electrolito solido proporcionado entre los electrodos. El electrolito solido contiene como polimero de matriz un copolimero de bloques de fluoruro de vinilideno/hexafluoropropileno. La pelicula del copolimero de bloques tiene una alta resistencia mecanica y una alta capacidad de retencion de solvente. El uso de esta pelicula de copolimero de bloques como el polimero de matriz del electrolito solido mejora en gran medida la resistencia adhesiva, la caracteristica de carga y el desempeno a bajas temperaturas. En el copolimero bloques, la proporcion de hexafluoropropileno es de preferencia de 3 a 7.5% en peso. El peso molecular es de preferencia mayor que 550,000. Se puede emplear un copolimero de bloques de mas de 300,000 en cuanto a Mw y menos que 550,000 en Mw en combinacion con el anterior.

Abstract: A solid-electrolyte secondary battery is provided which comprises a positive electrode, negative electrode and a solid electrolyte provided between the electrodes. The solid electrolyte contains as a matrix polymer a vinylidene fluoride/hexafluoropropylene block copolymer. The film of the block copolymer has a high mechanical toughness and solvent retaining capability. Use of this block copolymer film as the matrix polymer of the solid electrolyte greatly improves the adhesive strength, load characteristic and low-temperature performance. In the block copolymer, the proportion of hexafluoropropylene should preferably 3 to 7.5 % by weight. The molecular weight should preferably be of over 550,000. A block copolymer of over 300,000 in Mw and under 550,000 in Mw may be used in combination with the above one.
