Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably perform cleaning without destroying a magneto-resistance effect magnetic head by static electricity. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a drum device composed of a cylindrical fixed drum and a rotary drum having a cylindrical shape roughly similar to the fixed drum and disposed so as to be freely rotated, at least one or more magnetic heads disposed to be protruded from the peripheral surface of the drum device and having magneto-resistance effect elements, and cleaning members disposed to be abutted on the magneto-resistance effect elements of the magnetic heads. The cleaning members are mainly made of materials closely resembling materials constituting the fixed and rotary drums and/or the charging rows of the members constituting the magneto-effect resistance elements.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head capable of effectively using a magnetic recording medium when a high-frequency signal is processed, and a magnetic head manufacturing method capable of reducing the number of manufacturing steps and increasing yield. SOLUTION: A core having a magnetic gap 11a being non-horizontal to a substrate surface is formed in a step shape on the substrate. Thus, when a high-frequency signal is processed, the signal is recorded in the entire area of a magnetic recording medium, and the magnetic recording medium is effectively used. In addition, since plural magnetic heads are simultaneously formed in one chip in the step of forming one magnetic head, the number of manufacturing steps is reduced and yield is increased.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a magnetic head more than a case where a magnetic head is individually formed by arranging plural magnetic head parts of magneto- resistance effect type at predetermined intervals in the direction of the film thickness of the magneto-resistive element so that a magnetic gap formed between a pair of soft magnetic materials becomes approximately parallel to each other. SOLUTION: A magnetic shield 12 forms a magnetic shield shared with a 1st MR head part 10 and a 2nd MR head part 11. The 1st MR head part 10 and the 2nd MR head part 11 are arranged at predetermined intervals in the thickness direction of the MR element part, and the 1st MR head part 10 and the 2nd MR head part 11 are set to form a predetermined azimuth angle to the sliding direction of MR head 6 with a magnetic tape. Moreover, the front and rear end sides in the sliding direction of the MR head 6 are guarded by a pair of guard members 22a, 22b. And, conductor parts 17a, 17b connected with permanent magnets 16a, 16b respectively form their end parts on a side of a magnetic shield 13, which are used as external terminals 23a, 23b.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing system capable of efficiently managing plural kinds of recording media without sticking bar codes, etc., onto the recording media. SOLUTION: On each individual recording medium 20, a CPU 24 and a memory 25 are mounted and also a transmitting and receiving part 22 and an antenna 21 are attached to it, so that information of the memory 25 of each recording medium 20 can be read out and written in by an outside part with an electromagnetic wave used under noncontact condition. The memory 25 of each recording medium 20 is made to store information about its own recording medium. On the other hand, a carrier part 6 is connected with a host computer 1, and a transmitting and receiving part 12 and an antenna 11 are fitted to this carrier part 6. When the antenna 11 of the carrier part 6 and the antenna 21 of the recording medium 20 are brought close to each other, data communication can be performed in noncontact between the host computer 1 and the CPU 24 of each recording medium 20. Consequently, the recording media can efficiently be managed in the system where the recording media are housed in their racks.

SOLUTION: The tape cassette provided with the non-volatile memory 4 is installed on a tape streamer drive 26. The tape streamer drive 26 is connected with the host computer 25 by using a SCSI interface 27. A command for transferring data with the non-volatile memory 4 of the tape cassette is included in the command of the SCSI interface. Since the tape streamer drive 26 and the host computer 25 are connected only by the SCSI interface, wiring does not become complicated, a private interface is not required and versatility is superior.
