Abstract: An information transmitting method comprising the steps of: transmitting identification information of a recording medium from at least one terminal section for reproducing a duplicate recording medium duplicated from the recording medium having recorded thereon first digital data related to an encrypted work and second digital data including at least identification information proper to the medium, to a host section via a communication channel; authenticating the transmitted identification information by the host section; requesting the terminal section for accounting; and transmitting data related to a key for decrypting the encryption of the first digital data to the terminal section when the accounting is carried out.

Abstract: An optical disk recording apparatus, an optical disk recording method, an optical disk playback apparatus, and an optical disk playback method are provided. For example, the present invention is applied to a high-sound-quality optical disk (4, 6Z) which can be played back by a conventional compact disk player, and aims at supplying still higher-quality contents which can be played back even by a conventional optical disk apparatus. Second information (SC) is recorded by partial changes of optical characteristics, such changes being of such a degree which does not affect detection results of first and second areas which are detected by the irradiation of a laser beam (L2).

Abstract: A light orientation film and a liquid crystal thin film are formed adjacent to each other. Light is irradiated to the light orientation film and the liquid crystal thin film, so as to cause the light orientation film to be orientated while viscosity of the liquid crystal thin film is lowered by a temperature increase by the light irradiation, so that an intermolecular force on the boundary between the light orientation film and the liquid crystal thin film causes the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal thin film to be orientated according to the orientation of the light orientation film. By this orientation of the liquid crystal molecules, recording information is maintained. Thus, it is possible to realize a sufficient signal amount while using the light orientation film as well as to obtain a thermal stability and a stability against light irradiation.

Abstract: An optical alignment film and a liquid crystal thin film are adjacently formed. These films are irradiated with light. The optical alignment film is aligned, and the viscosity of the liquid crystal thin film is lowered becaus e of the increase of the temperature due to light irradiation. The liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal thin film are aligned similarly to t he alignment of the optical alignment film by use of the intermolecular force a t the interface between the optical alignment film and the liquid crystal thin film. The alignment of the liquid crystal molecules allows the recorded information to be held. While using this optical alignment film, a sufficiently large amount of signals are realized, and the thermal stability and the stability against light irradiation are ensured.

Abstract: A master recording apparatus which comprises a revolving base (31) for revolving a substrate (1) coated with resist thereon, an irradiating mechanism (32), an elevator mechanism (33) for making the irradiating mechanism (32) capable of moving in a vertical direction and in a surface direction which is perpendicular to the vertical direction relative to the revolving base (31) and a height position displacement mechanism (35) interposing between the irradiating mechanism (32) and the elevator mechanism (35). The irradiating mechanism (32) is connected with the elevator mechanism (33) through the height position displacement mechanism (35) and the irradiating mechanism (32) has such a structure in which at least a converging lens system (36) and a displacement driving mechanism (37) for adjusting a focus are supported by a gas static pressure pad housing (38). In the gas static pressure pad housing (38) a gas feeding pad (39) is disposed facing a bottom surface opposing the substrate and gas (such as air) is made to be fed between the irradiating mechanism (32) and the said substrate (1) through the gas feeding pad (39), whereby the contact between the substrate and the irradiating mechanism is avoided at a time of carrying out a recording of a predetermined pattern by irradiating a beam.

Abstract: In an optical-disk manufacturing device in which a disklike plate (8) is coated with an ultraviolet-set resin (39) at one side thereof, pressed against a stamper (11), and irradiated by ultraviolet rays to transfer a pattern provided in the stamper (11) to the ultraviolet-set resin (39), the optical-disk manufacturing device comprises a disklike-plate supplying part (13) which can store a plurality of disklike plates (8); a resin supplying part (C) for supplying the resin to the disklike plate (8); a transfer part (D) for transferring the pattern of the stamper (11) to the resin (39); a disklike-plate removing part (E) for removing the disklike plate (8) after transferring; and a transport device (X,Y) to transport the disklike plate (8) from each preceding part to each following part; wherein all the parts of the device are arranged in alignment in order of mention, and the central line passing through a first position of the transfer part (D), where the disklike plate (8) is overlaid upon the stamper (11), and at least a second position of the transfer part (D), where the resin sandwiched between the disklike plate (8) and the stamper (11) is irradiated by the ultraviolet rays is substantially vertical to the direction of the parts of the manufacturino device being in line.
