PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow various external devices to effectively utilize a digital broadcast signal by supplying the digital broadcast signal served from the digital broadcast system to the external devices. SOLUTION: A descrambler 131 descrambles a transport stream from a front-end section 12 and gives the descrambled stream to a digital interface section 20 and a demultiplexer section 132. The demultiplexer section 132 extracts compressed video and audio signals of a program in response to a user's instruction from the transport stream and gives them to an MPEG decode section 141. The MPEG decode section 141 releases the received video and audio signals from the compressed state and gives them to the digital interface section 20, an NTSC encoder 143, and an audio signal D/A converter 144. The digital interface section 20 is controlled by a control section 30 and gives either of the transport stream and the compression-released data to external digital devices.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to easily process also a long, irregular-length and continuous file. SOLUTION: The device has a microprocessor unit(MPU) 4 for adding a specific file number to each data file and generating the information of a data file managing table describing correspondence between the file number and a track number on a hard disk 10 and a file managing memory area 8 for storing the data file managing table. A hard disk controller(HDC) 3 manages a data file based upon the data file managing table.
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reliably reproduce the ID of a sector without being influenced by the position of a disk in its radial direction when the recording head and the reproducing head are separately installed. CONSTITUTION:Each sector is divided into a servo data recording area 1 and a data recording area 2, and a clock mark 11 and wobble marks 12, 13 are formed in the area 1. At the head of the data recording area 1 of each sector, an ID recording area 2h is formed, and it is divided into two ID recording areas--2a for the time of reproducing mode and 2b for the time of recording mode. These areas are arranged on the inner and outer peripheral sides respectively in a displaced manner. By this arrangement, ID information can be reliably read even when the scanning positions are displaced from each other because the recording head W and the reproducing head R are separated at a specified interval in the radial direction. The area 2a functions as a gap at the time of continuously recording the sector and the drop of efficiency on the format is prevented by arranging the area 2a on the upstream side from the area 2b.

SOLUTION: A server 1 is an apparatus for recommending an item in the form of crossing fields. In the server 1, on the basis of a user's evaluation for an item, a relationship between items belonging to respectively different fields is obtained, and information representing the obtained relationship is set for each item as meta data. The set meta data is used for identifying an item to be recommended to a user, and, for example, an item of a field different from a field of an item as a standard selected by a user is identified as a recommended item. The information on the recommended item is transmitted to a client used by a user who receives the recommendation for the item. The present invention is applicable to a personal computer. SOLUTION: A meta-information extraction part 34 extracts meta-information on a content being currently viewed and listened by a user, such as information on a category that the content belongs to. An emotion predicting part 35 predicts the user's emotion from the meta-information. The kind of emotion that the user has is predicted from the content that is being viewed and listened by the user, and the prediction result is provided to an emotion recognizing part 36. The emotion recognizing part 36 is provided with information, such as the user's expression, gesture and voice, from a user information acquisition part 13. Feature amounts are extracted from the information provided, and the user's emotion is predicted. The emotion recognizing part 36 recognizes the user's emotion, based on the result predicted from the emotion predicting part 35, and the prediction result predicted from the information from the user information acquisition part 13.
