Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration with time in reflectivity by preventing the corrosion of an Al film by providing a protective film, made of a laminated film of long-chain alkyl fatty acid and its metallic salt, on the surface of the Al reflective film formed on the information recordng surface of a reflection type optical disk. CONSTITUTION:On the surface where an uneven information recording surface 12 is formed on a transparent substrate 11, an Al reflective film 13 is vapor-deposited to 400-2,000Angstrom thickness. In a vessel 30 wherein a monomolecular film 33 of C8-28 long-chain fatty acid and its metallic (Be, Mg, Ca, Cd, etc.) salt of the group II is formed on the surface of pure water 31. The substrate 11 having vapor- deposited Al is dipped in the water and pulled up to form an about 30Angstrom monomolecular film 22 on the reflective film 13. Instead of the monomolecular film, a 3--9-molecular layer (about 100-300Angstrom ) may be formed. Thus, the film 22 prevents the deterioration in reflectivity due to the growth of a hydrated layer resulting from the permeation, etc., of water. In addition, the peeling of the film 22, the curvature of the substrate 11, etc., of an optical disk are eliminated.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable even curing and to improve mechanical strength by using as an principal component a crosslinked structure in which high molecular polyurethane polyol having a specific OH value as a binder is crosslinked by an isocyanate. CONSTITUTION:Polyurethane polyol of more than 10.000 in mean molecular weight obtained by giving polyol of about 500-2,500 in molecular weight and 20-100 in OH value, increased in molecular weight and in the number of functions by polycondensing triol, a reaction on diisocyanate compound is mixed with an isocyanate compound as a curing agent to obtain a magnetic coating, which is applied onto the base. Then, magnetic-field orientation, heating and drying processes are performed to obtain the magnetic recording medium. Thus, the amount of falling powder can be reduced and wear resistance and mechanical strength can also be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase the dispersibility of the magnetic powder, by reforming the surface of the magnetic grain, whose surface is at least an oxide to the lipophilic surface by the titanium compound (particularly titanium alcoholate compound). CONSTITUTION:The titanium alcoholate compound is dissolved into a solvent which contains the magnetic particle and other pigment but no binder. Then the magnetic coating material is produced with addition of a binder after giving a previous surface treatment to the magnetic powder (and pigment). Otherwise the magnetic particle and other pigment are mixed uniformly with the titanium alcoholate compound by the stirring or other methods, and this mixture is dispersed into a binder and solvent to obtain the magnetic coating material. The titanium alcoholate compound is used preferably by 0.5-20pts.wt.preferably 1.0-15pts.wt.to 100pts. wt. magnetic particle.
