Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately and quantitatively measure the wiping performance of the wiping cloth without depending upon the experience of a measuring person by measuring the intensity of light emitted by fluorescent dye dissolved in artificial dirt by a photoelectric converter. CONSTITUTION:Light is emitted by a light source 6 and diffracted spectrally by an interference filter 7 and its optical path is branched by a half-mirror 8 into an optical path 9 and an optical path 10a. The optical path 9 extends to the photoelectric converter 11 which monitors the light intensity of the light source 6 and the optical path 10a passes through a condenser lens 12 to irradiates a constant area 16 of residual artificial dirt 5 on a substrate 1. At this time, the residual aritificial dirt 5 is layered and excited by the dissolved fluorescent dye 2b to emit light. The emitted light 10b travels along the optical path 10a to reach a photoelectric converter 15 through the condenser lens 12, etc., so that the light emission intensity in the measurement area 16 is measured. Then a light source 6 and a photoelectric converter 15 which move stepwise at specific intervals along the surface of the substrate 1 are used to measure the light emission intensity in a residual artificial dirt area 17 and finds the integral value of measured values, thereby evaluating the wiping performance.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately measure the sonic velocity of an ultrasonic wave which is propagated in a material body to be measured even if the material body is a soft material body by detecting the reflected wave of the ultrasonic wave on the surface and the back surface of the material body and obtaining the thickness of the material body and the propagating time of the ultrasonic wave in the material body. CONSTITUTION:The material body 3 to be measured is placed on a reference surface separated from an ultrasonic transducer(TD) 1 by a known distance. By detecting the reflected wave on the surface of the material body 3, a distance from the TD 1 to the surface of the material body 3 can be obtained. Therefore, the thickness of the material body to be measured can be obtained by subtracting the measured distance from the known distance. The propagating time of the ultrasonic wave in the material body to be measured can be obtained from the time difference of the reflected wave on the surface and the back surface which is received by the TD 1. By dividing the obtained thickness by the propagating time, the sonic velocity in the material body to be measured can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure the shape of a material body to be measured by emitting an ultrasonic wave toward the center of rotation from an ultrasonic transducer(TD) every measuring point on a circular arc and receiving the reflected wave on the surface and/or the back surface of the material body. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic wave emitted from the TD 1 toward the center of rotation O every measuring point on the circular arc 5 is propagated under water and reaches the surface of the material body 3 to be measured. It is reflected on the surface of the material body 3 and also made incident on the inner part thereof, then it is reflected on the back surface of the material body 3 to return TD 1. A distance between the TD 1 and the material body 3 and a distance between the TD 1 and the back surface of the material body 3 can be obtained based on a time from emitting the ultrasonic wave to receiving the reflected wave on the surface of the material body 3 and a time from emitting the ultrasonic wave to receiving the reflected wave on the back surface of the material body 3 respectively. By previously obtaining a distance between the TD 1 and the center of rotation O, the respective intersections of a line combining the TD 1 and the center of rotation O with the surface and the back surface of the material body 3 can be detected from both distances. Therefore, the shape of the material body 3 can be measured by successively detecting the respective positions of the surface and the back surface of the material body 3.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To make the advancing direction of an emitted ultrasonic wave coincident at the center of rotation by fixing an ultrasonic transducer on a turning position where the intensity of a reflected wave becomes maximum or the propagation distance of the ultrasonic wave becomes minimum. CONSTITUTION:A reference measuring jig arranged concentrically with the center of rotation O has, for example, a columner shape. When the sonic axis of the ultrasonic wave emitted from the ultrasonic transducer(TD) 1 is not coincident at the center of rotation O, the advancing direction of the reflected wave which is reflected on the surface of the reference measuring jig does not turn to the center of the TD 1 and the intensity of the reflected wave received by the TD 1 becomes small and the propagation distance of the ultrasonic wave becomes large. When the turning position where the maximum intensity of the reflected wave or the minimum propagation distance of the ultrasonic wave is detected is obtained by turning the TD 1 around the center of the ultrasonic wave emission surface of the TD 1, it is understood that the sonic axis of the TD 1 is perpendicularly crossed on the surface of the reference measuring jig on the turning position and the reflected wave traces a reverse path to be received by the TD 1. Therefore, the advancing direction of the emitted ultrasonic wave is made nearly coincident at the center of rotation by fixing the TD 1 on the turning position.
