    Abstract: An apparatus for treating yarn with fluid designed to provide a yarn, which consists of a multifilament, with coherence by using a working fluid. The apparatus is provided with first and second components which have flat surfaces fixed in parallel against each other with a gap G (mm) provided between them, the first component having at least two fluid conduits which are provided with a specified crossing angle ( theta ) so that they cross each other on the extended lines of their axes and which are opened in the flat surface. The first and second components are fixed to satisfy the requirement in which the gap G between the flat surfaces facing each other is 0.2mm or more but 5mm or less, and they eject the working fluid under a specified pressure through at least the two fluid conduits onto the yarn, which runs between the flat surfaces, to provide the yarn with coherence.

    Abstract: A melt spinning pack, comprising a pack case, and a spinneret having many spinning holes provided at the bottom of the case, a pack cap having a polymer introducing hole at the center provided at the top of the case and a flow arranging plate having many flow arranging holes provided between the spinneret and the pack cap, respectively contained in the case, said flow arranging holes having restricted portions reduced in cross sectional area compared to the inlets of the holes. It is preferable that the cross sectional area of the restricted portions of the flow arranging holes positioned in the peripheral region of the flow arranging plate is smaller than the cross sectional area of the restricted portions of the flow arranging holes positioned in the central region. It is preferable that the length of the restricted portions of the flow arranging holes positioned in the peripheral region of the flow arranging plate is longer than the length of the restricted portions of the flow arranging holes positioned in the central region.

    Abstract: In a method and apparatus for winding synthetic fibers, a yarn is wound around an empty bobbin using a yarn winding apparatus composed of a traverse fulcrum guide, a traverse device, a contact pressure roller, two spindles, a moving device for moving the spindles, and a yarn transfer device for introducing the yarn into a yarn holding portion for holding the yarn, wherein the yarn transfer device is composed of an upper yarn passage guide, a lower yarn passage guide, and a surface bunching guide respectively provided at positions upstream and downstream of the empty bobbin in the yarn running direction, characterized in that the yarn is moved outside the traverse width, to be kept almost parallel to the yarn holding portion by the upper yarn passage guide and the lower yarn passage guide, pressed to the empty bobbin by at least either of the guides, moved to the yarn holding portion by at least either of the guides, and held and cut by the yarn holding portion, that the holding point of the yarn is allowed to move in the rotating direction of the empty bobbin reverse to the running direction of the yarn, that the yarn is allowed to be automatically disengaged from the upper yarn guide, and is moved toward the center of the traverse without forming the initially straight-wound yarn tail bunch, and that when the yarn is engaged with the traverse guide, regular winding is started.

    Abstract: A method of measuring a profile of an object wherein an ultrasonic wave is radiated from an ultrasonic transducer toward an object supported by a supporting member in the water filled in a water tank, and a wave reflected at the surface of the object is detected by the transducer, and an apparatus for carrying out the method. A traversing device moves the transducer sequentially to a plurality of measurement points on an arc equidistant from a predetermined rotational center while opposing the transducer to the predetermined rotational center. A supporting device moves the supporting member relative to the transducer and sets the object in the predetermined position under water. A control device delivers a drive signal to the traversing device to move the transducer sequentially to the measurement points, causes the transducer to radiate an ultrasonic wave when the transducer is in each of the measurement points, calculates a distance between the transducer and the surface of the object in accordance with a difference between the time the transducer radiates the ultrasonic wave and the time transducer receives the wave reflected at the surface of the object, calculates coordinates of each of the measurement points, and coordinates of the surface of the object corresponding to each of the measurement points from the calculated distance, and obtains the profile of the object from the calculated coordinate of the surface of the object at each of the measurement points.
